wondering
« on: October 17, 2011, 05:59:01 am »
Can someone tell me why is okay for one parent to do something but not the other one? My daughter informed me the other day that although her Biological Sperm Donor (her name for her father. I call him something else that can not be put on here) has gotten remarried she does not want me to ever to it (Which I was not planning on doing anyway. I do have a Man friend though that we live with). Just wondering about that.

How old is your Daughter?

This should not be an issue at all, you're the parent, you decide what to do with your life who to marry or not. I think your daughter was just shocked to find out that, it actually lured some dumb soul to the alter. She probably just wants to have some way to not lose you too. So, she demanded you not to marry ever. Even thought it was just the sperm donor, he's still the father & she may feel that she's being abandoned once again. Don't take it to heart, but do not promise her you won't. What if you one day find the soul mate for you? You have the right to be happy too? Remember you're the adult use those rights accordingly.

I'm walking in your shoes...meaning that...my ex-husband remarried and left my children feeling abandoned because of his new commitment to his new wife.  My children like the fact that I'm single and my relationship...with them...is still a very high priority.  They wouldn't want a man in my life to become a higher priority than they are because it might make them feel like they lost BOTH parents.  Your daughter isn't trying to dictate your choices.  She just doesn't want to lose you to someone else...in my opinion.

Later...
Sherry
Have a great day!

I understand what she is trying to say to you.  My children were happy and content with my life their Dad remarried and when I got married they are have put distance from me now.  I am the parent and I am intitled to be happy to.
