« on: August 09, 2011, 03:26:18 am »
Ok so my son is 29 and has been living away from home now for the past year. Am I wrong to want to hear from him everyday still? does anyone with grown children NOT mind if they hear from their kids every day? heeeeelp what is wrong with me!!....Should I just let go and pray for his safety?

Your situation is not unusual it is only natural to care for your son, he is part of you! Unlike my situation I have a 50 year old step-son who still lives at home and no relief in site. Hopefully one day he will grow up and grab the bull by the horns and quit mooching off of his mother and myself he seems to think everything in life is free and that he is entitled to it. If your son lives with you till he is 50 youll be glad he's gone and you will willfully let him go! And stll love him!

Hello cateyes1,

Our four kids are in various stages of being "out of the nest".
Some have been out of the house for years while the youngest
are home for college break.

You are not "wrong" for wanting to hear from your son......
although Daily might be a bit much to expect, depending on what
is going on in his life.

We talk with our kids weekly for sure even if it is just a few text
messages, but usually we connect for a phone call at least once
per week.

We HAD to "let go and just let pray for our son's safety" when he
was deployed to Iraq and Kuwait 3 times.  We certainly cherished
the phone calls during those times!!
