Good things from the garden

I have just pulled up my cucumbers, and the last of the radishes, to plant snow peas in one  box and spinach in the other for the winter. The green beans and tomotoes are still going strong so the hot peppers.

Gardens are awesome! My dad always plants a garden with tomatos, cucumbers, and this year he's trying bell peppers. I would grow a garden, but I live in an apartment....

We have a short growing season up here in Alaska, but a lot of sun.. So we do alright with our gardens..

I miss the cherry tomatoes, carrots and squach. Growing up we always had a garden if it wasn't us it was my aunt and uncle, it was the best time. The garden was the best place to be cherry tomatoes tasted so good with salt.  I miss it now that i have my own family we haven't had a chance to do a garden now that my kids are older we are so busy with sports we are never home . Boy i miss it

I wish good luck to anyone with a garden.I tried it and everything was ok,but I developed a severe allergic reaction to tomatoes,which I love.I can't eat them anymore.Now I have to find some substitutes for ketchup,spaghetti sauce and pizza sauce.

For spaghetti you could try any of the ready made sauces on the market or chop up black olives, green onions and garlic and saute them in olive oil. Make angel hair pasta in a pot. Drain. To serve put the pasta on your plate and put a little of the oil on it and add parmesan. It's a nice alternative. For pizza sauce you can use pesto sauce and I make dill sauce for fries chicken and fish. It might not be for you but its a suggestion.

I'm growing alot of things in my garden. I'm using some methods from a book on square foot gardening, which helps you make the most out of even a small garden space. I have cucumbers, watermelons, peas all growing up a fence  but planted them in a pit to conserve water and help keep the garden soil from eroding. So far it is doing great and I've been making pesto and freezing it for winter. I'm growing a new pepper plant this year. It is an Italian frying pepper and I can't wait to try one out. It seemed to take a long time for the little bugger to sprout. well good luck with your gardens and enjoy them. Winter comes too soon.

We are growing Japanese eggplant, Japanese cucumber, green and red peppers, spinatch, tomatos and herbs.
I looove Japanese eggplant and cucumber We already harvested 50 eggplants this year.
