Why do people turn to suicide for an easy way out?

I feel peer pressure causes people to become suicidal depends really on the person mind set as you stated

Just a guess..... but I believe that while there can be MANY "reasons" someone would choose suicide.... I'd agree that fear(or ANY uncontrolled emotion) is the main influence. Truth is... at the end of the day.... it all comes down to an individuals PERCEPTION of the situation!!! EXAMPLE: While we, and MANY others may "percieve" SUICIDE or DEATH as an act of "fear" or a "horrible" event.... that does NOT define TRUTH.... it only describes how WE "percieve" it. There are some who see ALL existance as "ONE ENERGY"..... and "tangible" life being a "prison" of sorts... that holds you back from "being one" with ALL universal energies!!! If you could imagine your "body" as a BALOON... and your "life energy" as the air.... would you say the DESTRUCTION of the baloon would too destroy the AIR... Or maybe does the "indestructable air" simply "go home" and RE-JOIN the rest of the air... no longer "imprisoned" by the baloon...

Having said that.... a man who believes he is "escaping a prison" may be acting on what he believes to be more "noble" acts than.... FEAR!!!

I believe anger which is caused by fear and being sad , lonenly and depressed is one of the main reasons people try to hurt themselves. Another could be drugs and or bilss, relationships etc. (presure)

I been suicidal since my mid teens and Im 24yrs old now. There were a few times where I actually hold a knife to my stomach or a scissors. My mom never found out about these events until a year or 2 ago when I talked about it with a psychologist. The only thing that keeps me from completing a suicide is my mom. She is the only parent that I have left and I would hate to see her live without me. I don't see suicide as an "easy way out". I see it as another option when everything else fails. Maybe, you will understand if you been suicidal as long as I have. I'm still trying to get over it so, I can enjoy life more.

I also do not think that its the "easy way" out.  By the time a person actually gets to the point of suicide he/she has already been through so much torment.... Depression is painful.  Its hard to walk around all day every day feeling so terribly sad about anything and everything.  Knowing tomorrow is going to bring the exact painful thoughts and feelings and there is nothing you can do about it.  Even if there were something a person could do (therapy,meds,etc) when you are already down like that you don't feel trying to get help.  Its just a hard situation all the way around. There def needs to be more awareness out there for this subject!

Its fear, feelings of hopelessness and the feeling that things are never going to get better, a cry for help that ends badly.  It the feeling of being totally alone and no where to turn, its very low self esteem.  Its a chemical inbalance in your brain that some people need medication for but some people have to fight ever day of there lives with no medication because the medication makes them worse.

I wish i knew the answer to that cause i lost my sister to suicide in dec 2010 and believe me its something that very hard to deal with.

because people are not in there right sense they feel that is there only way out of there pain, it can irritate me when people can be so mean and say they are selfish they can be but you are not them you do not know what they are going through and they are not thinking straight they can not see the world clearly they may feel alone and not know that the pain can go away.
