Ah, It's Always Nice to Get Back Home

I was in Thailand for 30 days visiting my fiance.  Unfortunately, it wasn't much of a vacation at all.  It started out great when I arrived for Songkran (New Year's Celebration).  Unfortunately, part of the week long event is blasting everyone you see on the streets with water.  I got a huge stream of water blasted directly into my eyes, and the lens in my left eye came loose.  Now I'm having double vision out of that eye and will have to get surgery to replace my lens.  Talk about bad luck.  Then things actually got worse when my fiance's father passed away and we had to make a hurried trip to her home in the countryside near Cambodia for the week long funeral proceedings.  Needless to say it's always nice to get  home!  Have you ever had a vacation that turned out to be more depressing than fun?

That's too bad what happened to you.  Did you get a chance to me her father?  How awful for her to lose her parent.  At least you were there with her to comfort her. 

I took my mother on a surprise trip to Jamaica in November and it kind of left a bad taste in my mouth.  I wished I had just stayed in the resort instead of going out in the city.  Just a bad experience with people trying to get money from the "rich tourists" just left a really bad taste in my mouth.  Out of all the places I visited that was the worst vacation.

I went to Thailand a few years ago to Pattaya with some guy friends who ditched me.  If you know anything about Pattaya you know why.  I didn't know what kind of place Pattaya was and I spent the majority of my time there alone but that was ok I still had a nice time.  It was certainly better than Jamaica.
