Man's best friend. I recently read a story about a guy in Brazil who had his dog with him when thieves asked for the key to his car. He refused, and they shot him in the head. When his dog saw that he was injured, he attacked the thieves. They shot the dog in the chest and leg. Somehow both of them survived. To think that if he had just handed over the keys, they wouldn't have been shot.

Aww, I like stories like that. I just read a story about a family who adopted their fallen son's bomb sniffing dog. The son really loved that dog and the dog would sleep with him on his cot. One day when they were out the son was shot and the dog stood over his body protecting him. He even snapped at soldiers who were trying to help him. Since the dog was still considered on active duty and was going to be reassigned the family had to go higher up to ask to adopt him but eventually they said yes.
