:cat:  Our family does enjoy Candy Cane Ball Cookies over the Christmas holidays.
You blend together 1 cup softened butter and 1 cup sugar. Then you add 1 egg, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, and 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract.
Stir in 2 2/3 cups of all-purpose flour. Then you chill this for at least one hour.
Mix together 3/4 to 1 cup of powdered sugar and 3/4 to 1 cup of peppermint candies (finely crushed.) Then set that aside.
Go back to the dough and form it into one-inch *bleep* and place on a lightly greased baking sheet.
Then bake them at 375 degrees for 7 to 10 minutes.  As soon as you take them out, immediately roll the warm cookies in the powdered sugar mixture.
This makes about 3 to 4 dozen.
Hint: These cookies go well with hot chocolate or Christmas spice tea!
