Surviving the terrible two's?

OMG I can definitely relate I went through the terrible two's and now I'm off to the terrible three's. It is so not easy, my problem is the defiant stage and doing the complete opposite of what I say and just testing my limits.  I always thought that boys were worse than girls but I have received a rude awakening. lol..

So this is one of the first topics I have found we are all together in.  Although it may sound horrible and all if you don't have children it is not all that bad. My girlfriend who I have grown to love dearly has a child, when I first meet her her little girl had just turned two and now three and a half(well a little over half.)  At two she was cute fun and barely mobile, at three fully mobile and MAN defiant and FULL OF ENERGY.  although she is very well behaved and respect full but still no terrible two but three's YES!!!!

This is the first time I ever heard of the terrible twos. I know some toddlers can be brats at this age.    As a parent, unconditional love and patience is a definite requirement. I don’t know if this will help... Have you ever heard of Dr. Harvey Karp?

I got my son to quit throwing tantrums, especially in public, by getting on the ground and throwing one too. He was so embarrassed he never did it again.

Oh My, I did this also....funny to find someone else did it.  It worked!!

My daughter is trying to be an over-achiever I think...she's only 16 months and already has full blown terrible two's tantrums lol The whole deal- throwing herself on the floor, kicking and screaming, hitting anyone who upsets her....it's hard not to laugh sometimes but the quickest way to end it, that we found is to just ignore her. Once she loses her audience, she loses interest in her dramatics. You also need to pick your battles- if she wants to get into cabinets (my daughter's fave) try to have just one cabinet that's just hers and have it full of stuff that you don't mind her pulling out like plastic strainers, mixing bowl or funnels. It saves a llot of screaming...on both sides
