Yeah that's not funny.  :o

Just because its not funny to you, doesn't mean that its not funny to other people.

How do you know she wasn't raped? Laugh on then..Oh that's right, girls that get raped are whores, my bad.

we weren't talking about her being raped. we were talking about her being a *bleep* in general

How do you know she is a *bleep*? Making rumors and starting lies...stfu

Stfu? Very mature. If I believe that she was a *bleep*, thats my opinion. I'm not making up rumors or starting lies.

wow, stfu, makin' rumors, startin' lies. can we all be just a little more mature than that. i made the topic for the sake of argument, just to throw out a possibility. Not to "make  rumors" or "start lies".

Obviously that would mean Jesus was not divine. The miracles he performed according to the Bible might be entirely made up or events that were greatly exaggerated.  His teachings have had a lasting impact on the world either way.

Not knocking the Catholic Church or anyone on here who is a Catholic - wanted to get that out of the way. They pray to the Virgin Mary, but there is much evidence in the bible of Jesus having siblings, specifically brothers and possibly sisters because sisters are also referred to/mentioned. Just one example from Mark 6:2–3:
"And when the Sabbath had come, He (Jesus) began to teach in the synagogue; and the many listeners were astonished, saying, "Where did this man get these things, and what is this wisdom given to Him, and such miracles as these performed by His hands? "Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, and brother of James, and Joses, and Judas, and Simon? Are not His sisters here with us?"

Catholic theologians have always argued that the others were 'cousins' of Jesus even though there are many passages that say these 'cousins' were also parented by a carpenter (Joseph) and a 'virgin' mother (Mary). The whole thing is another one of those paradoxes and oxymorons in the bible that I have personally NEVER been able to fathom or get a handle on. So, I believe Virgin Mobile exists, but as far as Virgin Mary, not so much....

I don't know if this particular issue has been brought up already, but I think that it is a very brilliant and thought-provoking line of logic.

If Mary was Jesus mother, who was Jesus father? Trinitarians would say "God the father, of course". But do not the scriptures say something different?

"Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows: when His mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child by the Holy Spirit." - Mat 1:18

Now if I am a trinitarian, believing that the Holy Spirit is a PERSON, I would be forced to conclude that Jesus father was the Holy Spirit, and NOT the Father!

This leads to a bit of a logical predicament that cannot be escaped from without resorting to some very creative and seriously questionable acts of reasoning.

Marie, read the posts you have put on this thread. Don't you feel like you should have thought before you spoke? I am a Christian & I disagree with this perception of Mary, that doesn't mean I can't respect someone else's viewpoint. There is a mature way to back your faith. And if you ARE here to try to spread Christianity, the things you post are not convincing. Telling someone to stfu doesnt make them want to be a part of anything youre a part of. Furthermore, you're on the DEBATE AND DISCUSS section, be prepared to see arguments about religion.

Before i start. This topic is not for the weak minded christian sheep. this is only for open minded people who can consider all points and possibilities. preferably only unbiased statemens.

now, what if the "virgin mary" wasn't a virgin. what is she was like a... you know what, and was embarassed and didn't want anyone to know. like a lot of girls in this day and age. what do you guys think?

Then there is no need to debate, since you only want certain kinds of statements in here. What you are doing to Mary is degrading and you know it.
