BP's Oil Cap Solution
« on: July 18, 2010, 04:26:29 am »
What do you guys think about that cap on the oil leak?  I'm glad they have it contained for now, but it sounds like they are concerned that pressure will build up and it will start up again.  What happens if they destroy the pipe that taps into the actual supply?  Can this get out of control to the point where they CAN'T stop it again?  Is that even possible?

Bp is dealing with a touch and go situation, they seem to be trying everything under
the sun to stop the leak. Their latest method seems to be working but it is a temporary fix. It will buy some time untill they can drill another well to tap into the leaking one. Once done they can seal the well off  permanently. Things are looking up!

Well, they did say they wanted the pressure to get really high.  Because the pressure is so high that's telling them the well the oil is coming from is still secure, so I'm all for this cap.  Not to mention the amount of oil it's preventing from spewing into the ocean.  I know it's a temporary fix but any fix at this point is better than nothing.  I hope the world has learned not to trust companies when they say they can clean up hazardous materials.  I know the leak was in international waters, and it's not an American corporation but damn, something needs to be done to prevent this from happening in the future.  One thing is for sure I will never go to a BP gas station again.

Either way, the long term effects are what we should worry about. There are already hundreds of thousands without jobs right now, and with this oil spill, there are now even more people jobless. What is BP going to do about that? They're also killing off marine life around the Gulf area and destroying habitats. How are they going to "cap" that?
Even though they have put a halt to the problem that could-have-been, they have caused other issues that they are too busy to address.
