Extention On Taxes
« on: April 19, 2010, 08:09:12 am »
Well, our State and Federal Taxes were due last week.  Who filed an extention?  Who filed on time?  Who does not file at all?

I had to file for an extension this year. Hated to do it but had to.

If your going to request an extention you better do it now. If you owe anything I would suggest that you pay a small payment with the extention because if you atempt to pay you will only be facing a .5 percent penalty rather than a 5 percent penalty.

I filed in February, because I knew I was getting a refund, so I wanted the money as soon as possible. But I just got my state refund back last week, as NY state was supposedly broke, and they postponed a lot of the refund checks.

I filed on time, but apparently I didn't even have to this year and didn't know it...but completed the process to keep the paperwork trail up for disability.

Yes, it is always nice to have that extra money in the beginning of the year from your taxes.  We used our refund to buy some couches...

I always file on time, and so this year was no exception. Even though I did not get a refund, it's just nice to get the whole ordeal out of the way. I know someone who has not filed her taxes or an extension and she thinks it's ok. The consequences of not filing are far greater for her now, and I tried to tell her that. Oh well.
