What do you want to get out of college? EX: new friends, education, money.
I just want an overall new outlook on life.

I won't be going to college for a couple more years since I'm only 15. But when I go to college I would like to learn as much as I can about bussiness and marketing. I would also like to meet new people.

Google is your friend. You can find me there. Can I find you there?

I am currently un-employeed and was concidering going back to college. I have a AS degree in computer science and was looking at web-design but when I talked with the head of the department he suggested that I didn't go into the set of courses because it would just be another AS degree with basicly the same skill set as I currently have. So, my ideas have to be re-focused... He suggested that I go for my BS in computer science, but that would mean I would have to do a lot of traveling to get to a University for non-internet based classes. I'm am so frustrated and not sure what to do. My un-employment is starting to run out soon for the first 6-month and I will need to re-apply for an extention. Any advise would be great.

Don't fret. If you're anything like the older dudes in my college classes, you're gonna be the fun badass of the class.  8)

This is true.

I'm in a similar boat with you except I'm stuck in a job with very little benefits and it does not pay well. I too am thinking of going back to school. My advice--

http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/
http://www.gocollege.com/financial-aid/student-loans/banks/

Student loans? Financial aid? Or are you swelled in debt right now? Even so, you should be able to apply for some of these. I have a friend who went back to college to get her masters. She was 80,000 in debt and STILL got loans somehow. Fortunately she's going for some form of teaching degree which will practically guarentee her a job.

That's my other advice-- go for something that's hot. Teaching and healthcare always need people. Do some research to see how hot computer science jobs are (in the future, too) before you dive in. The job-placement at my college was at 93% when I started. Half way through it was at 60% and when I graduated, they wouldn't tell us...ugh...

I hope this helps. Keep me updated on how you're doing! CHIN UP!

There is NO doubt that this is the hardest hurdle to jump. I see it a lot, too.

well u guys i really dont know what to say about college. i think about going to college sometimes and it scares the poop out of me. i didnt do good in high school so i doubt i'll be good in college. i am not dumb but i only want to learn what i want to learn and if i dont get it then im not gonna do it. i mean i learn alot of stuff in high school that i have not used since high school so why did i have to learn it in the first place. it just a bunch of useless information. well, maybe for some people it's not, but it is for me. geometry was my worse subject. i didnt graduate high school, no i was 8 credits behind but i did get my GED and it was easy for me to get since i already know most of the stuff they questioned me about. i know it's mandatory to take certain courses in college to get some degrees but i HATE HOMEWORK and i have no time really to do it. i have other things to do. yes im on here all the time but this site is making me money i probably would have never seen if i didnt join. right now i'm at a 9$ an hr job which most people wouldnt do the thing that i do but right now i cant be picky when i dont have another "real job" to go to.
