Title: Social Anxiety
Post by: Mizzkizz7 on July 29, 2019, 04:58:52 pm
I have social anxiety and I wish I didn't. When you're in a marriage or relationship, you have to attend events and before anything takes place thoughts of panic go through my mind and the what if's. What am I going to wear, wear my hair? Who will be there? How will the scene look like? Who will I conversate with? It's tough but I push through. Is there anyone else who experiences this?

I think if you take the approach to be kind to others and take an interest in them you should be fine.As far as dress, grooming etc, dont be anything you arent. And if you suspect someone is mean or rude just avoid them.Common interests help too to keep the chat well.

I had similar experience, when I get married and we had a family gathering, I had a hard time eating in front of everybody else.

Yes I am the same way, so I try to avoid those kinds of scenes as much as possible, but I know sometimes your just not able. It never fails that I get caught by someone that likes to chat alot, ask how I am, what Ive been doing, questions that are intrusive, etc etc, so I just try to put up with it a little and say oh Im sorry I see someone over there I need to speak with, and say nice talking with you and walk away. And try to find someone I like to talk with

I deal with some type of chronic anxiety, but I haven't gotten a really accurate diagnosis from anyone. I figure that I fall somewhere between generalized anxiety disorder and panic disorder, but I do experience social anxiety from time to time. You aren't alone.

I can relate. I've always dealt with horrible social anxiety and I'm in my mid-30s. I hate it. :(
