Title: Sleep after eating
Post by: santa7 on October 02, 2018, 07:01:44 am
I nap as soon as I eat because I feel sleepy then.  Anyone else do this?

I know that can happen, especially at my age...75

However, I want to be healthy, and energetic. I have two kids, four grand-kids, and two great-grand-kids.

I eat healthy, and watch to not over eat (makes you sleepy), and make myself do things when I can.

I eat a lot of vitamin rich foods, and take vitamins....lots of projects.

At times, like when a sinus infection, like now.....I have to make myself mobilize, sometimes I cannot....but try very hard not to give in to that.  That makes me feel older, and I am already old enough :)

We each have to choose what is best for us.

I force myself to sit up or walk after eating a meal.  I heard it's good for the body and helps to keep some of the fat away.

It is normal after a big meal but not healthy. Also thyroid gives you this sleeping feeling.

No, I don't sleep after I eat. Our body is most comfortable digesting food in an upright position allowing it to absorb food easily. Sleeping after eating can muddle with the digestion process which can lead to a mass of digestive diseases.

One of my reasons why I don't wash dishes right after dinner at times. Time out to digest relax

They say not to eat for 3 hours before bedtime, to give the body time to digest. I still usually end up having a snack!

I sometimes would like to take a nap after I eat .  However, when I feel like that I try and exercise  or work through it.  The more naps I take during the day the less likely I am to sleep at night  :pumpkin: :rose: :peace:

I do not sleep right after I eat.  If you suffer from heartburn at all, you don't want to do this.  Also. I have gotten into the habit of not eating within 4 hours of my general bedtime.  I just feel better when my stomach is not full when i'm going to sleep. If I feel like a little nap (which is not usual), I sleep in a recliner only partially reclined.

So how about if you snooze in a recliner after eating?

No because in the mornings I have to go to work.  At lunch time, I have to go back to work.  In the evenings I have things to do before bed so I can get up and go to work the next morning.

Shouldn't eat late at night and laying down, it'll be hard to burn calories and it can lead to acid reflux or heartburn. That is VERY uncomfortable. :'(

        Wait at least three hours.

I try to stay awake after eating because you are supposed to let your food digest before going to sleep. It is best to go for a walk.
