This was a Paul Newman movie, man I love the great 1970's disaster movies with Hawaii and big ships, towering infernos....Imo no cgi can compare to those sets.

When Time Ran Out was the name of the movie. You could tell the special effects were fake, but it scared the heck out of you anyway.

:fish: :moon: :fish: Kind of scary to think about, specially that there is a volcano that is happening now in Hawaii. Wonder what the movie is like to watch though? :fish: :moon: :fish:

When you're a child watching movies/tv all you care about is what looks cool whether real or fake,I thought the claymation show Davey and Goliath was cool,New Zoo Revue as well as disaster movies.

Or the Tarzan movies, where the rhino chasing Tarzan got HUGE the closer it got, and Tarzan stayed the same size.
Scary stuff, as a kid. :)

I have hiked the lava fields on the Big Island many times and love it. There are huge boulders (8 - 9 tons) that were thrown miles from the crater during the last huge eruption. It is really neat to see the different types of lava formations.
Some are really smooth and some are really jagged. It depends on the force that causes the lava to come out as to how it forms. Smooth lava formations have flowed slowly. Jagged lava formations have come out with force. Prayers for all of the Hawaiian Ohana that are in Pele's path. I visited the areas that are being overflowed on my last trip to the Big Island.

Always funny to me how ppl pick places to live that just get destroyed by nature's revenge( California erosion and wildfires and earthquakes) and now Hawaii. Most ppl don't deserve to live in the beauty of nature. Ever see the great action flick Dredd ?

Scary stuff, as a kid. :) Sad fact: there was a time when they actually killed animals in those jungle movies whenever they wanted. Makes me wish that in movies like Zulu all the humans were actually killed.

I like disaster films. Terror and human heroism.

prayers for those who are close to volcano hope they get out in time

The people in Hawaii who lived closed to the active volcano knew of the possibility of being consumed by lava when the volcano eventually erupted. The land was cheaper, so they took the chance. Unfortunately they couldn't get home owner insurance because no insurance company would insure them because of the volcano....
Now the government has to provide them FEMA assistance & federal aid for them to get back on their feet.
Life goes on.

:( It all very sad!
But it is reality!

I love seeing man's creations destroyed by nature, don't like seeing heroes hurt/killed to save a mansion, landmark or a bunch of fools.

It's super scary. I saw a video this week of lava eating up a parked car in seconds.
