after we got back from our bbq with my friends and family. I crawled into bed when I got stung by a red wasp. I am deathly allergic to them. we keep benadryl in the house the liquid for our 15 year old daughter she cant swallow pills and the pills for me. i was about to reach for the pills when my instinct said no grab the liquid now and take it. I did. well my wasp sting when I went to the doctor yesterday was one of the worst they ever seen so much so I was one of the first ones to be seen two nurses and a doctor came out to look at it. the vemon was so bad my leg from where I was stung was turning blue. they thought I might have had to go to the hospital or I might have died from the sting. I told the doctor what I did the split second I was stung I took the liquid benadryl . he said because you did that is what saved your life. I didn't go into anaphalsis as a result nor did I need a hosptial. I got s steriod shot and have two take two different histamine blockers benadryl and pepcid ( yes the reflux medicine) it contains a histamine blocker. they have an H1 blocker and an H2 blocker due to the severity I have to take both every 6 hours. this is the second time the first instance was a deadly allergy to nutra sweet my husband and I at that time were not even 3 months married. on that I did go into anaphylsis three times and in and out of consciousness. I was very pale white, my oxygen was low, I was very weak for several months that my husband had to carry me to church and back home. He pumped me full of benadryl then also. both times my husband and daughter came close to losing me. no I'm not over dramatic the doctor literally said I could have died due to the severity my husband could have been a widower that is how bad. God told me to take the liquid benadryl both times that saved my life. I am carrying both histamine blockers at all times.

I am so sorry to hear what happened to you and glad you survived! I know how awfully scary these things can be. I got stung by a bee in my back yard once and my whole arm blew up like a balloon. My husband rushed me to the emergency room but it turned out to be nothing - the swelling went down and there were no aftereffects. Nothing like what you went through!! My husband built me a beautiful pergola on our property so I could go out in it and read during the summer, but I have been very hesitant to use it because of fear of getting bitten by a tick or a bee. It really is a shame.

WOW, that was really scary! I'm so glad you are ok. You are very lucky you didn't have to go to the hospital and you are feeling better.
-
Oh that's so scary. Thank goodness you had the presence of mind to immediately take benadryl!
-
That is awful! Good that you took quick action.
-
I'm wondering if you carry one of the pens , my neighbor can't go out side with out it .
-
Sorry to hear that. I love my bloggers. I hope for you a speedy recovery. :rose: You have a wow story. :peace: Such a simple medicine we have today, these simple medicines are not so simple indeed. :present:
-
Glad to here you are ok. Please make sure you carry something with you at all times because you never know when something like that will happen and it's best to always be prepared.
-
That must have been so very frightening. Would an Epi Pen have helped?
-
Sad to say I'm allergic to the epi pen that is why doctor ordered me to carry the two otc histamines on me at all times especially when it's wasp and bees season. That way I can act fast I am pretty groggy it makes me sleepy a lot.fortunately my husband and daughter keep track of the times I have to take my medicine s

No allergies are no joke and can turn bad really fast. My husband had a wasp sting that caused his arm to swell like 3 - 4 times normal size. Dr. said get the epi pen & he said naw I'll be alright. Dr. said well next time you likely are not going to be able to breath so that is just ignorant. Thank goodness he never got stung again. Well glad you are ok anyway.
-
I don't see how anyone could be allergic to wasps. Insects aren't typically any human's friends.
-
Wow! SO sorry you had to go through that. Please take care of yourself and rest. Thank goodness you are still with us. Be well. :)

Ditto!

Sorry hear that story

Wow that's crazy. My cousin died last summer after getting stung by a bee. I'm terrified of bees I've never been stung so I don't know if I'm allergic. I try to avoid bees at all cost.
-
Thank God that you survived that ordeal. Lesson to all of us is to be careful and be aware of our reaction to things.

If you are that allergic why do you not have the epi pen?
-
Katie, I cannot imagine how scary that was for you and your family.
I am glad that you are prepared for such incidents as a wasp sting and that you listened to your instincts to take the Liquid benadryl. No doubt, that liquid did save your life.
-
Sorry that is scary, maybe you should get an epi pen.
-
Years ago while out hiking I walked up on a fellow hiker who was in panic mode as he rifled through his pack looking for an epipen after being stung. It was quite an eye opener. The worst part was realizing that without the pen I was useless and could not have helped.
-
Sorry to hear! Glad to hear and see that you are ok now!
-
Oh my goodness I am glad you are okay! I worry about bees, wasps, etc because in my whole 28 years I have never been stung. I could be allergic and not even know it.
-
wow! glad you are ok The lord was looking out for you.
You are in mythoughts and prayers that you stay healthy. :rainbow: :peace:

So sorry to hear of your near death experience. I am glad you have taken the liquid B. I have a son who has allergies especially for be stings. He has an Epi Pen but he hasn't used it yet. Hopefully you get better in time. Take care!

So sorry to hear that, but God is not finish with you yet! Keep praying
