I am struggling with my natural hair journey. I am transitioning from relaxed hair to natural hair. I do not have the hair breakage any longer, but my hair will not stay straight after I hot comb/flat iron or curl it.
It frizzes real bad.
One of my problems I know is that I need to figure out my hair type and porosity.
Any other suggestions. I am reading hair books and utube to get information as well.

Keep checking on youtube until you find a solution or check with a beautician.

Why transition if you're just going to try to keep it straight? The excess heat can damage it more than relaxers.
It's easier to just deal with one hair texture so chopping off the relaxed ends helps. If you don't want to go that route protective styling(braids, twists, weave, wigs, etc) works so you don't have to deal with the hair while it's growing out and you can gradually trim off the relaxed ends.
My hair barely would stay straight when I had a relaxer so it was just easier to stop trying to fight against nature

I think it is best to wear hairstyles with your natural hair or you are just going to keep fighting it or cause it to become damaged from flat ironing it. I have never straighten my hair since I have been natural. I m afraid of damaging it. If I want to show some length I just wear my hair in a braid out or twist out. If I really get bore with my hair and want straight hair, I wear wigs but I don't fight with my hair. I do what it works for my hair and when I am not feeling it, I put on a wig or ponytail and go on with my day. Try to enjoy your natural hair.
