Are you one of those great fancy cooks that can throw some ingredients
together and make a fanastic meal or a more basic cook that prepares meals
via recipes.
-
use a recipe for some things like desserts
-
I will definitely use a recipe if I have for baking and especially when I am doing some of my daddy's meals I love. But there are time I will just throw things together. Not as often as my husband does but oh well.
-
I probably do both. There have been many times I 'made up' a recipe and has been so good, but then there have been other times when my creation found its way into the garbage and thank god for pizza or McDonalds!
-
I don't do much cooking as my husband does most of the food shopping and cooking in our household. He can make magic meals appear from nothing, it seems. He never uses recipes and yet everything he makes tastes just wonderful. He really enjoys cooking and has a natural talent for it.
-
I do both and have been a cook for over 40 years and use that at home.
-
Both!! There are some recipes that I would not deviate from, but it's just as fun to throw good ingredients together and come up with something new.
Most of them time you can't recreate it later on, but that's just part of the fun of it.

Hey I made a Jello this morning, but I did look on the box for the recipe.
-
BOTH ,
mostly i cook meals from scratch and i always bake from a recipe ...
-
I do both, sometimes I do get tired of the same old things to cook, so try a new recipe on occasion :) Otherwise yes I like to throw things together, they arent always great, now and again I get a bomb lol

I'd be so happy if my hubs would cook at least once a week to give me a break. His idea of cooking is to call the local pizza place for a pick-up order. :)
Even when I could barely walk from my one surgery, he was kind enough to put a chair at the stove so I could sit while cooking, but I guess that's my fault because I kept trying to force myself to do everything like I did before the surgery.
I do throw things together at times for something new-but- not-exciting, and it's usually "bland" because I don't use enough spices. Lately, though, I've been having to use recipes because I'm starting to forget an ingredient or two.
On my made-up recipes, I write everything down and then give it a rating after we try it. I even keep the "no good" ratings so I never make it again. :) :) :)

Mostly from recipes but sometimes when I have to make something quick just whatever i can find
-
i like to cook as much as i can from scratch...especially being allergic to dairy and being prediabetic..that way i can control the ingredients and know what i am eating
-
I would not even know where to begin if i cooked anything from scratch my sweetheart is the cook anyways i clean up! And i am totally fine with that deal :)
-
I use both, mostly just through it in.
-
Cooking for me is defined as driving to the restaurant.
-
If I am trying something new then I use a recipe. If it is something that I have been cooking for years then I don't use a recipe.
-
Tooo tired to follow yet more instructions...except "put in the microwave and hit 5 minutes
-
Both. just depends. i sometimes reference recipes to get a basic idea of ingredients and such then i adapt to my taste or whatever i have on hand.
-
I do a little of both. Always follow a recipe for baking but for dinner I occasionally follow a recipe but usually I just take a recipe as a suggestion and add or take away the things i like or don't like. I do a lot of cooking so most everything I can just put it together without a recipe.
-
I absolutely LOVE trying new recipes!! I try a new one every couple weeks!!! the fun part is getting my daughters to try it! I have a new one I am trying this week with an avacado sauce to be healthier!! blah hahahaha :rainbow: :peace:
-
About 98% of recipes I try, make the garbage. I still love collecting new recipes, have no idea why.
My best meals were made from scratch & "thrown" together (it's also a much cheaper way to cook)...the dishes that turn out great, I always write down to make again.
I don't bake much, if I do...I'd use a recipe but I have made ALOT of goodies in years past using only my imagination and most of those were a big hit.
-
I use both, depends on what I am cooking, most times I use a recipe and add a few things on my own, example I like to season my meats before cooking and most recipes do not season, and if they do is not like I season, so I will do my season meat and use the recipe for the rest of the stuff.
-
I do both. I know many recipes from scratch but I like learning and trying out different ones.
-
I do both, depends on what I am making. Most of the time once I make a dish from a recipe I then can make it from scratch. I am always tweaking the recipes also. Grandma taught me to cook when I was 10 and I started canning and making jellies and jams by the time I was 12. I am now 722. So have been cooking a long time. I also cooked in a restaurant. so when I went into managing one I knew all of the ins and outs.
-
Cooking from scratch and using recipes are not mutually exclusive. Cooking from scratch excludes mixes and processed food, it does not preclude the use of recipes. I cook and bake from scratch. Sometimes I use recipes, sometimes I throw things together.
-
I use a little bit of both.
-
I'd rather cook from a recipe!
-
I am not a very good cook so I have to use a recipe for whatever I am making. However I can boil water without a recipe.
-
I do both, but I use so many "healthy alternative" ingredients when I'm baking that even if I use a recipe, it feels like I'm making it up! I always substitute applesauce for butter or shortening. I use egg whites or egg alternative in place of whole eggs, and I rarely put in as much salt or sugar as called for. We are trying to control cholesterol at our house without drugs, and so far, it's working.
-
I mostly use recipes from scratch! Love it!
-
I do some of both. Sometimes I just have a pot pie or TV dinner but mostly I do cook from scratch, especially chili and soups.
-
Nope, I usually need to follow some kind of recipe. Even still, I have made some delicious food using recipes.
-
I cook from scratch and from recipes. It all depends on what mood I'm in. My mother taught me to cook at an early age, which I really appreciate. It's nice to be able to go in the kitchen and prepare a meal from scratch and not need a recipe and have a fantastic meal. :)
-
I don't cook from either
-
It depend on what I make, but mostly I'll cook from recipes.
-

Most of them time you can't recreate it later on, but that's just part of the fun of it. I follow directions to bake most of the time. But other things I like to throw stuff together to see what comes out. We have so much stuff in our garden right now this is really fun.

do both but usually use a recipe
-
Both I cook from scratch and I look up recipies o line and in books also from memory like when someone tells you how to make something without writing it down
-

i prefer to cook from my oven overall
-
I've done both. I can throw something together quick for dinner with whatever I have or I'll try a new dish with a recipe.
-
I do both. I think I am a pretty decent cook. Growing up my mom didn't have a lot of money so she taught me how to throw things together that you wouldn't think to throw together and make a great meal.
-
I don't exactly follow recipes and like to make meals from scratch.
-
If it is cookies or cake I use recipes. For things like lasagna, macaroni and pasta salads I do from scratch
-
I would like to but I end up using really to warm food!
-
I find it much easier to follow a recipe .. I usually adjust it to cut it down as I am cooking for only 2 ppl
-
My hispanic foods i make from scratch but when i want to try something new, it's from a recipe
-
ido not cook. i live in assist living and get 3 meals a day and 2 snacks. one ay 2pm andone at 7pm
