Title: Silver & Gold
Post by: ankie4t on October 24, 2012, 08:02:46 pm
How easy collect Silver & Gold coins?

I just knew if the world market of gold down, that's the good time for buy. But if go up, that's mean that's good time for sell it.

But I am not sure for coins, either silver or gold. Maybe only for invest or future saving.. more old the coins are more expensive or how's that work?

Historically, gold and silver should be a lot higher than it currently is. The ratio is way off (right now its at 53, historically it was 12)  and if you adjust for inflation then you will notice a fairly large difference. Although hardly comparable, its wild to think that a full days worth of labor (12 hours) was once paid with the amount of silver in one silver dime. Its not hard to realize the price of silver is highly undervalued. Sure, we are mining more of it but with industry we are also using a lot of it (plus we're still increasing our population) in small amounts that are not worth it to recycle at the moment.

Whats cool is that you can still find silver floating around. When I worked for a few months as a cashier I found a silver dime and a silver half dollar! The silver half dollar was in a fire and I noticed it was a walking liberty (The old design before Kennedy.) So I changed it out for two quarters I had.

Melt value alone is worth 25, 20 is way undervalued since you have to keep in mind the collectible value adds a premium. Its a good thing you didn't take that offer. I'd say they're worth 27 at least. You could easily get 26 or 25 off eBay.
