I'm really tired of my country supporting Israel when they're doing crap like this. It isn't right. :angry7:

The you tube video is nothing more than a terrorrist government showing innocent children being affected by war. Israel has a right to protect their people. When Palestine lobs mortars and missiles into Israel, Israelian children are killed and hurt too. War is terrible! Period. Peace talks are the only thing that will stop this fighting. When given numerous opportunities to come to the table, Palestine refuses to do so. The money we give Israel is to help them stay strong against Arab countries surrounding them in all directions. When Arab countries continue to say, "Israel must be wiped off the map," Israel must defend it-self at all costs. Israel was given that land after WW II. The entire world at that time made that decision. Israel must defend themselves at all times. Terrorrists continue to kill the young children of Israel by lobbying missiles and mortars. The movie is intended for those of us who nothing about the history of Israel and tries to blame all of the killing on Israel. This just isn't true.

Just to add more creditability to my above opinion, check out the following web site article. It comes out of the Wall Street Journal a couple of hours ago.

If there was a "like" button, I definitely would have clicked it here. Thank you, Mickey, for your words.
I agree that what is happening is horrible, but it bothers me when all the blame is one-sided. Innocents should never be sacrificed when it comes to defense, but neither side is innocent of this.

I agree. Some vids are made by Palestinians, and they are "staged". Not saying this one is, but no one actually knows until later. Some vids have been sent to the news media with the same content. Bodies laying everywhere, blood, children wounded or worse. Then a few days later, another vid will surface at some Palestinian rally, and some of the same people would be there, wearing the same clothes as the previous video. Someone should inform them of wardrobe changes in between takes.
There's a lot of false information created against Israel and her people. If you keep abreast of both sides, it's not hard to figure out what's going on. Israel just wants the land that God promised them in the Bible, nothing more. They should be able to have their own state as was promised (see above quote). They won their independence in the 6 day war. A war that nobody thought they would win....lol Why is that little strip of land is so important to the other surrounding Arab countries? To present the notion of "wiping" any Nation off the map, and her people, is the Halocaust all over again. God said he would bless those who bless Israel, and curse those who cursed her. The US provides all we can for Israel. Is it no wonder we are hated by the Arab nations? We are the ones helping to protect her, and are blessed for it.
Israel has offered to live in peace together with the Palestinians, but they want ALL of Israel. When the Gaza Strip was given to them, and all the Jews removed, it wasn't enough for them, and no peace ensued. You have to look at the history of both sides. Israel has to defend herself, and she has every right to do so, just as we would protect our nation.
Using the children is a common "card" the Palestinians use for "sympathy".

I just read the article Mickey001 and the part about Obama just wanting a political boost showing favor to Israel and the peace talks, is so "hitting the nail on the head".

There were many promises of an Israeli state way prior to WWII. I just love it when someone admonishes someone else about not knowing what they are talking about then goes on to illustrate how little they themselves know of the subject.
I have no problem with an Israeli State. Not because of the "God promised them one" foolishness. No he didn't. But rather because like I have previously stated else where I don't believe in ownership of a piece of ground but rather Creator meant the land for all of our use.
I do see some similarities with the issues my own people have and do face with occupying forces, and, I see differences as well.
One major difference, is that the Arabs in the area are not the original inhabitants and their arrival displaced another population just as had happened over and over throughout history in that area.
One similarity I see and strongly disagree with is the fact that even though the Israelis are willing to let the Arabs stay in the event statehood becomes reality, only if the Arabs become citizens. Wrong.
The Arab population has as much right to sovereignty as do the Israelis or every other Nation of peoples worldwide.
In my view, warring over land ownership is very wrong, selfish and egotistical.
Everyone has the right to habitat the earth, who are we to judge where they may do so, furthermore, everyone has the right to move around the world at will, however, the superior attitudes of most of the worlds population will and do insist that this not occur.

The killing isn't one sided but what exactly has Israel done except continue to push Palestinians out, then blame them when things turn violent? Of course, nothing is ever accomplished. The hatred runs too deep on both sides. It's like The Neverending Story, but way less fun. We could be rebuilding parts of Louisiana destroyed during Katrina, fixing our broken school systems, or helping the Mexicans fight cartels who are kidnapping and killing our people. No, instead we'll continue to throw money into a bottomless pit and be stuck in the middle of an endless conflict. It also doesn't make me think Israel is exactly grateful for our help, when someone runs over one of our citizens with a bulldozer because she was protesting the destruction of Palestinian homes.

Okay Walksalone, I don't know what I'm talking about? You do remember the 6 Day War, where Israel won her Independence?
I'm about ready to board so I'll answer this quickly, and then go into more detail later. In the Bible, God laid out the parameters of the "Promised Land" for the Hebrew Children. I have to research Chapter and verse. My Concordance is packed.
While I was in Israel, Jericho (yeah that one), which is under Arab control now, had a bad sewer system that was tainting their clean water, etc. Nobody in the Arab sector could fix this problem. It required engineering a whole new sewer and filtration system for the whole town. The Israeli's went in, and drew up the specs., and built them a brand new system. They do this kind of stuff all the time. If they were not willing to live in harmony with their Arab brothers....why bother? Why pull out of the Gaza Strip, and hand it over to the Palestinians? The Palestinians wanted ALL the Jews OUT......no living in harmony for them! They claimed the Gaza as their own. Now it's being played out again with the West Bank. How much more and more do the Arabs want before there's nothing left for the Jews to inhabit.
Arabs are notorious for seizing "Holy Sites" and barring Israeli's access to them. Rebecca's Tomb in Bethlehem is such a site. They know how much sacred reverence these sites are to the Jews. They do it for provocation. All through history the Jews have only wanted what was promised them by God. Nothing more. There are numerous Arab Nations around for Arabs to dwell, but no, they want the Jews land, and to wipe them off the map. There's more going on here than just fighting for land. The Arabs want the Jews annihilated.
There was so much flack given to the Israeli's for building the wall around Jerusalem. They likened it to the Berlin Wall. Not even close. It was erected to give them control of who was going in and out of Jerusalem. After so many terrorist acts of blowing up buses, ect. It was to give them some kind of control over terrorists. The Mossod (spelling?) is the equivalent of the US's CIA, and they have a homeland security in place themselves. They are responsible for the Wall. It's something to see for real. They had no choice, as they had to protect themselves.
If there was a chance for both to inhabit Israel and live in harmony and peace, the Jews would agree. The Palestinians do not want the Jews there at all.
Finish my post later......

In 1947 or 1948 (can't remember), Israel acquired statehood. In 1967, the 6 day war was fought, to claim some of the land (especially Holy sites), that was in the original Statehood agreement. Parts of Israel was controlled by the Arabs, and they were not going to relinquish it no matter what. Yes, this back and forth tug of war has been going on a long time (we all know this).
What it boils down to is that the Jews want that little strip of land to call their own. Everyone said okay, you can have it. Then everyday they have to protect it like a hawk or they will lose. Syria, who makes a big deal of telling everyone how "neutral" they are, have granted the USSR to transport military equipment across their country, to the Hezbollah, and other terrorist groups advantage on the upper borders of Israel and Lebanon.
Must shut off laptop....later

Thank you, Mickey for writing this. You are absolutely correct in that if people don't see the whole picture and know the history of the situation from the past through today, it's hard to understand why it's happening the way it seems to be happening.

Okay...Delta has gogo so I can use the laptop in flight. Kinda cool really.
In no way am I the authority about everything Israel. However, Walksalone, it's clearly written in the Old Testament how God gave the land (of Israel) to the Jews for an inheritance forever. He also laid out the boundaries of the land of Israel in the Bible. It definitely is not what IS laid out.....at the present.
I don't want to offend Amy in any way, so I'll stop with this post. Love you Amy

Oh, Annella...I have no problem with truth. I take issue, though, with the hurtful attitude that the Israeli's are just pushing Palestine out and blaming them for everything and are full of hatred and ungrateful.
I agree...there is much that is wrong in Israel...and neither side is innocent. I cannot agree, however, with the view that Israel is this type of wrong...not when it was the Jews that originally inhabited the land and have been repeatedly pushed out since the first time they were pushed out...I am not idealistic or innocent to the fact that atrocities have been committed on behalf of both sides...I cannot sit back, though, and see someone wrongly accuse the Israelis in this manner without letting it be known that it hurts me.
I will not say something, though, against someone who disagrees with me. I think that those who view the Israelis this way are wrong, but I'm sure they disagree with me, too. And...I will not stifle someone else's speech. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, whether or not it is based on research or knowledge or hand fed to them. This is a topic I will not debate on because of how personal it is to me (much more than homosexuality, and I got pretty heated and emotional there) and because I do not wish to break any more mitzvot than I already have...words are powerful, and I try to be as careful as possible with what I say and write...once it is out there, there is no taking it back.

I find myself defending her (Israel). Sometimes not a popular stance. When has that stopped me though huh? LOL Just know that I love your land as much as anyone who calls themselves Jewish.
Have fun Annella!
Not to far this time. Just over the border a bit. I can still access FC. It will be good to see some dear friends during my other activities. Kind of a working vacation.

Honestly and truly, I'm sorry I hurt you. My wording was harsh. The bulldozer incident made me very angry. I felt it was a slap in the face to say the least, when our nations are supposed to be allies. I feel our time and money could be better spent fixing our own problems. That's the bottom line.

Our time and money to Israel is dwarfed by what we send, and devote endless funds/time/rebuilding for other countries. Israel is a drop in the bucket. We're accused so many times of fighting wars that have nothing to do with us, or sticking our nose into civil unrest, ect. Actually, when a revolution coup is taking place, it's the innocent people that are stuck in the middle, and the US tries to help them, feed the, rebuild for them, give them some protection. Are we correct all the time...no In the case of Israel though, we are her ally, and that entails protecting her. Just like the US has allies and enemies in common with other countries. It's how it works with every country. We just happen to be the biggest power in her list of allies. However, Israel has a first class Military in all aspects. We did help (a little) to "arm" her, so she can protect herself. Just like other countries are "arming" the Hezbollah, and other terrorist groups to go against Israel.
