Christmas Decorations
« on: November 12, 2009, 10:59:32 am »
Do you use store bought decorations or homemade ones?
Mine are mostly homemade ones. I sew plastic canvas. Mostly what my kids have made in school.

I hang everything my children have made over the years on the tree or in the living room. (I know my kids love this and I am so proud to show off what they have made at school and church!!) I also have lots of store bought christmas stuff as well. I LOVE CHRISTMAS TIME!!!

We celebrate Solstice rather than xmas, but we really decorate. We have a huge Holiday Village that we add to every year.

We don't do a tree, there isn't enough room and no one in my house want to put it up or take it down, but everyone wants to decorate lol.  I celebrate solstice/Yule, so I decorate with store bought winter themed items.  And to make my mum happy I put out her little nativity scene, and we have a couple of angels that light up and some lights.  Most of the stuff we have we acquired for free through others, some of the stuff my mum buys after the holidays when everything goes on sale, so the following year we always have something new.  A wreath, or a new decoration.  We got some fake flickering candles last year and I set them in the window, it looks really pretty at night.

Strangely enough, we've never done a tree or decorations in my entire life. But this year is different-- my family wants to go all out and do decorations and a tree. I have no idea why!

As xmas gets closer, we should post pictures of our decorations!

not sure if it will help for this year, or if you even have
a hobby lobby nearby, but they have some really nice
trees that are marked WAY down right after christmas.

i bought mine last year right after for $15! it was originally
almost $100. i had my eye on it all season, but couldn't
bare dropping a ben franklin on it  :P

...i buy little store bought things here and there, but
i love making things and getting handmade things from
people.
[ we all have a place in history. mine is in the clouds. ]

We have a combination of store bought and home made on our tree. I like store bought best, especially fancy glass ones, but of course the kids like to hang their homemade ones on the tree, and since I like making Christmas ornaments myself, there are some of those as well.

My Christmas decorations are store bought. My babies aren't old enough to make things yet but soon enough they will be.
