Volunteering!?

I put in an application a few months ago and they finally got back to me yesterday. I go in for orientation tomorrow. So anywho, has anyone volunteered (At an animal shelter or otherwise) and how did it go for you?

While in high school I volunteered at a hospital for two years.  I was based out of the radiology department.  I primarily assisted in patient transport/orderly duties, but when things were slow, I did things like filing and tech assistance.  During the school year I did it every Sunday from 8:00am until noon.  In the summer I did it 3 days a week for the same hours.

I enjoyed it immensely and any type of volunteer work can be very rewarding.  Good luck on your orientation and have fun!

For this month of November my oldest child and I are voluntering our time on the weekends for the local food banks. Packaging items and getting things together. I love it and I think this brings awarness to my daughter no matter how small it may seem, these families will be so greatful for it!!

I did a lot of volunteer work in highschool, i enjoyed it. the animal shelter sounds fun although i usually volunteered at nursing homes and running events. i think my favorite was tutoring, not much strenous work involved

I have volunteered before. It's a great thing to do but you really have t put your mind and heart into it. what you you love to do go to that in volunteering

I love to volunteer. It's not only good for everyone you also get to help out with what you lve the most.

Thanks a lot everyone! I'm so excited, I've always wanted to volunteer at an animal shelter. It's sad that I'm finally getting around to it now, but I'm going with the better late then never on this one.

The only time I did volunteer work was back when I was in High School, since it was required to graduate. I worked in the Library, which was OK since it never got busy. I checked out books for other students, and sometimes has to walk around to make sure those on the computers were only researching school related things. That was all they were allowed to do. Doing this gave me something to do, so I ended up with much more than the required 40 hours.

I just got back from the orientation not too long ago. It was fun, I think I saw the fluffiest cat  in all the universe there.  I think I'm going to like the volunteering. So all of you get out there and adopt a pet! Maybe you'll see me there.

I've been volunteering at the Hooved-Animal-Rescue-and-Protection-Society (harps-- formally hahs) since 7th grade. I know the owners like I do my family. I usually go twice or more a month. I actually took advantage of the weather today and went there and had a great time doing random stuff (moving horses to different fields, stacking wood for winter, running around feeding animals hay, etc.) I'm sore as hell!

its rly fun

i do it every other sunday it used to b every other saturday

and why those times if when i go to my dads i help out then

its alot of fun bcuz u make new friends

and im helping out with a local animal non-kill shelter

which is pretty cool

they of course dnt kill dog and keep them til they die and so whenver a dog isnt adopted u still get to see them

and i advise neone who has free time

and waiting for a job

to volunteer because its rly helpful to many places and many employers like to see that instead of someone not doing nething
