how many people buy DVD's befor they even see the movies

i buy very few movies, only ones that have some serious replayability for my family. most of the movies we buy are disney or pixar movies because i know the kids will watch those over and over. we have a netflix subscription and can watch most movies instantly through our xbox live so there's really no reason for us to waste money on movies. if i want to watch a movie bad enough that i don't want to wait for netflix to mail it to me, i just go to my mom's. she owns over a thousand movies so there's a really good chance that she owns the movie i want to watch.
best of all, that's FREE!!!!

Absolutely free!! And if you have a Walgreens near buy you can get a package of 3 dvd's for $2.00. I dont know how my husband does it but he can fit 6 FULL length movies on one dvd using DIVX. Im not so computer savy as my husband but if you would like to know how to do this you can email me at stephanieqmotes@yahoo.com  put MOVIES in the subject so I know its you and when my husband gets off work I will give you the directions to do this.

it all depends on the movie and how the trailer looks...if it seems very interesting then i will buy the dvd first

We rarely, if ever, buy the DVDs of a movie/show before seeing them.  Of our entire collection, I can only think of one DVD set we bought prior to ever seeing and that was LOST: Season 1.  We kept hearing raves about it from our friends and wanted to catch up before the start of season 2.

Usually, if we see a movie in the theater or on TV and really like it, we'll go and purchase it.  But, for the most part, a rental is done first for any previously unseen movie, and a purchase may follow after depending of course on whether we liked it or not.

I don't particularly like going to movies, so I always buy my DVD's and only when they are greatly reduced.

We only buy DVDs of our all-time favorite movies. We have a "rule" in our house regarding clutter and DVDs/games/books. 50 are allowed, if any new ones come in, an old one has to go. Since nobody wants to get rid of a DVD they like, it has to be a pretty special movie to take the place of one of our "Top 50."

Thus, the short answer is, no, we always see the movie first.

I definitely prefer not to buy movies... just an added expense. We typically only watch a movie once, so it's really pointless.

I used to do that. Buy them from Blockbuster used or from the $5 bin at Wal Mart. Found out that a lot of the movies were just "ok" and some didn't like at ALL. Joined Netflix a few years ago and now I only buy movies I REALLY REALLY like. Most recently got the original "Grease"
