Housing Bubble

Has anyone else been affected by the housing bubble? We have been searching for a house for over four years now and all homes are ridiculously expensive with people having bidding wars and paying over the asking price, etc.   

I suppose it will eventually burst, but at what expense? It's scary to think about. I would sure like to have my own home again, but it may never come to pass at this rate. Sorry to be a crybaby.
