The definition of sin according to the bible is transgression of the law. What law? the commandments, laws stautures and judgements of God. Gambling, smoking, drinking, etc are not sin. But we should still keep the words of God from Genesis to Revelations.

Everyone is a sinner, since the beginning. We are born into it. Sin is in our blood in our veins. Nothing we could do could ever measure up or come close to the Holiness of God. We could try and try to be sin free, follow the commandments to a tee, but we would still fall short, that is why God had to send His Son, that is the only way we could be saved, by Jesus, who is perfect, to take our sins. When Jesus took our sins to the cross, we were forgiven all our sins. When God looks at us now, God does not see sin, but God see's the Grace of Jesus Christ.
