wont do due to side effects. This is like gettn a half *bleep* product or doing a half *bleep* job. Id rather wait for a vaccine that has no side effects or kinks worked out

ALL vaccines can have side effects, including the FDA approved vaccines that have been around for decades.

If you take it you can still get covid.  And you can still spread it.  So what is the point?

The "point" is the same for the Covid vaccine as it was for all the other vaccines (measles, hepatitis, polio, etc) we've gotten in the past. You are LESS likely to get infected if you have been vaccinated, and therefore, LESS likely to spread it. If you do get infected, you are LESS likely to have severe symptoms, because your immune system remembers how it fought off the virus the first time and brings out the big guns to fight it again. When you have enough vaccinated people, it REDUCES the chance of spreading the virus, because fewer people are susceptible to infection and spread. Then you have herd immunity, which BETTER protects the people who CAN'T get vaccinated or have compromised immune systems.

You also said: It is NOT "just a vaccine". If it's not a vaccine, then what do you think it is?

Thanks for breaking that down 1imaginarygirl

I was against it in the beginning bc of my flu shot experience. I always get the flu when I get the flu shot. Therefore, I was afraid I’d get Covid if I take the vaccine for it. I change my mind when I spoke with my doctor and he told me he had taken the vaccine and that I should too. He told me he had lost many patients due to the virus and it was horrible seeing them parish very quickly. I decided to take the vaccine then. Happily, it’s been a month since I received both my shots and with little side effects I’m doing just fine. Now I am protected from catching the virus & everyone is protected from getting it from me! I also, still wear my mask in public especially, when I’m sick or under the weather.

I did not say it is not a vaccine. I said it is not "JUST a vaccine".   I am not going to argue about it. I am tired of it.

There have been over 200 people who have taken the vaccine, still got covid and DIED.  So I guess the virus wasn't less severe for them.

I am sick of these people crying they can't get the vax but I need to take it to protect them. No keep your tender self at home or take the vax and shut up.  If you say you "can't" take it then don't say a word about anybody else not taking it.

No you aren't. Do some research.  The "jab" does not keep you from getting cov nor does it keep you from spreading it.  If you want to take it that is fine but you do not have this shield of protection around you that keeps you from getting it. You contradict yourself in the few lines you wrote.  If the vax works why are you still wearing  mask?

I took the vaccine so nobody can complain about me not wearing a mask - I am back to living my life like I was before the pandemic. The last 15 months have been terrible.

You're a piece of work. You've been saying Covid is "just the flu" this whole time as 3.5+ million people are dying, but suddenly you're concerned about 200 vaccinated people.

I am sick of these people crying they can't get the vax but I need to take it to protect them. No keep your tender self at home or take the vax and shut up.  If you say you "can't" take it then don't say a word about anybody else not taking it.
Wow. There's some human compassion right there.  ::)

It sounds like you need to do some research, because it's evident that you have no idea how vaccines work.

My dad has a chronic cough so we encouraged him to get better before getting vaccinated. I know of a colleague who strongly prefers to boost his family's immune system rather than getting vaccinated. I feel that as long as most people are vaccinated, it's enough to protect the community.

lol It IS a coronavirus which is basically a type of flu. There is no way to win. You just want to argue anyway.
You say 200 people dying after taking the vax because they still got the virus that it was suppose to protect them from is no big deal ::)  I bet it was a big deal to their family.

As for the 2nd comment the point is if you are gonna scream I can't take it because basically I don't want to but I want to force you to take it then you are an idiot. If you need to live in a bubble then stay at home in said bubble. Don't try to force someone else to take an experimental vax to protect you.  If you want to be protected then YOU take it.

I have also received both vaccines and it makes me feel better about being in public.  I am in the high risk group because I'm 65 and have diabetes.

I took it because we love to travel and I dont want to be stuck at home or having to quarantine after traveling. I went through 2+ days of absolute HELL after getting the second one. If there was a side effect on the list, I had it. I was miserable. So I fully support folks not getting it if they chose not to. I also support if you want to get one. I just let folks know that I had awful side effects and that I have family that got the had a bad case of covid, got the shot, had horrible side effects with the shot, and THEN got covid all over again.

So it doesnt always really work.

Coronaviruses don't cause the flu. Influenza viruses cause the flu. They are different viruses in form and function. I never said that 200 deaths were no big deal. YOU said the 3.5 million deaths were no big deal because it's "just the flu".

Literally no one is FORCING you to get the vaccine. They are encouraging everyone to get it, because that's how vaccines are the most effective. It's a team effort. The more people vaccinated, the less people get infected. That's why we don't see diseases like polio and smallpox anymore. I thought I was pretty clear in my last comment, I was talking about people who actually CAN'T get the vaccine because of conditions that cause suppressed or deficient immune systems. No vaccines are 100% effective individually, but increasing the number of people vaccinated keeps that percentage higher as a whole. We don't get vaccines just for ourselves. It benefits others too, by reducing transmission to those who are more vulnerable.
