My dog has cancer
« on: March 26, 2021, 08:12:31 pm »
I noticed a lump on my dog's leg last weekend. X-rays show it's most likely bone cancer. She's not in pain yet, but I can't stop thinking that we have only a few months left with her. She just had her 7th birthday, and she's only been in our lives for two years. This sucks.  :'(

I’m so very sorry.  My one big boy, Rocky, had cancer on his leg also.  Please people don’t criticize me, but I took him to Pennsylvania  Veterinary hospital in Philadelphia.  He had chemo and radiation treatments and tolerated them great.  Unfortunately 8 months later I lost him, it had spread again.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Nancy. Did someone actually criticize you for taking care of your dog?! I'm so sorry. That's terrible. We are waiting on a consult with an oncologist to figure out the best plan. I know the prognosis is dire no matter what, but I want to make sure she's as comfortable as possible.

Why jump completely to the negative? Or do you already know it is in his bone? Some cancerous lumps like that can be removed. Maybe that will be the case with your dog.

It is your choice. I have been criticized for spending money trying to save a dog's life. And would do it again.

It's a very sad thing to lose a pet because they are part of the family. I'm very sorry 1imaginarygirl.

It appears to be osteoarcoma. The vet and I took the x-rays. When I saw them, I knew immediately what it was. The vet didn't even have to say anything. We could do a biopsy for an absolute diagnosis, but then we risk damaging and fracturing the bone.

The same thing happened with my little dog "baby" that I am holding in my profile picture - except it was on her stomach.  I just can't tell you how much I loved that little dog and miss her.  Prayers for your peace and comfort.

Aw, I'm sorry debidoo. The picture is so small on my screen. What breed was she? Shih Tzu?

I'm sorry to hear that!
Opinion: 1) a view, judgment, or appraisal formed in the mind about a particular matter 2) belief stronger than impression and less strong than positive knowledge
This is the internet, learn to let people have opinions. And don't be so sensitive.  8)
