« on: October 26, 2009, 02:05:01 pm »
We started asking for Christmas list from the kids in the family even though we probably won't shop till after thanksgiving because my husband always says were going to shop early this year but we never do so i was just wondering when will you get started!

I'll probably start shortly before Thanksgiving and then see what I can grab on Black Friday.

If you want to save money on electronics for the kids, just stock up on Black Friday with some CDs, DVDs, or if you're feeling particularly rich, some MP3 players.

Probably going to hit it up myself to buy some camera equipment myself.

I usually start Christmas shopping very early throughout the year and just put the items in my closet and the next thing you know everything is stacked as tall as me, but this year I haven't even started yet. Due to unemployment and such it's been hard just trying to pay the monthly bills.

I have a 14 and a 4 yr old daughter and I shop early!!!! I am almost done with my girls. My 14 yr old, alot of her stuff comes from ebay!!!!!!!!!! I love ebay. I find her alot of interesting stuff on there that you cant find in the store. Even stuff that you can get in the store but its cheaper on ebay,
As far as the rest of the family goes I am having a really hard time coming up with gift ideas this yr. I dont know why.
I am usually done shopping on black friday. Some things i wait to see if they go on sale that day.
My in laws dont like to exchange names till thanksgiving but that is to late for me.

We started asking for Christmas list from the kids in the family even though we probably won't shop till after thanksgiving because my husband always says were going to shop early this year but we never do so i was just wondering when will you get started!

I am already keeping mental notes of what my kids want.  My 6 year old wants every toy shown on tv, even the ones for littel girls..I typically wait until black friday to shop, because I feel like that is when the best deals start, but if I find something the kids want before and it is on sale, I get it, hide it and if I find it cheaper before Christmas then I get the cheaper one and return the other one.  I have to stick to a budget and I find that when I shop early I always go over...more time to shop gets me into trouble. :D

Well, I guess it IS getting to be that time of year, huh?  In general, I love the holiday season, but two things seem to annoy me every year, and seem to get worse each passing year.

1) Halloween isn't even over yet, and Christmas stuff is everywhere.  Seriously, is it really going to hurt retailers to wait until November 1st?  We were in Lowe's last year and saw artificial trees and outdoor decorations out immediately after Labor Day. What?!

2) Radio stations which change over to ALL Christmas music on November 1st.  I love Christmas music.  But, again, we haven't even gotten close to Thanksgiving yet, and 24/7 Christmas music is on the airwaves.  For the music, why not wait until Black Friday to start that?  Do we really need almost TWO full months of it?  :BangHead:

As far as shopping goes, I'm kind of dreading it this year.  I think most of it will be done online, though.  I really don't want to head out amongst the masses a lot with all the flus going around.  Nothing is worse than being sick during the holidays!  Almost everything we'll get can be purchased easily online.  Now, it's just a matter of starting... which we really should start soon.  My goal is to be done by the end of November.

I definitely will start my Christmas shopping on 'Black Friday'. With the little cash I have right now in my account, I am trying my best to let my $1 stretch. I have seen alot of really good deals in the store but I believe the real steal is on 'Black Friday' and expecially if you have a coupon when you shop.
