Thanks formal the responses...I wasn't referring to Amazon because I have done their returns before....I was thinking more of other stores or food items

So often, I see messages on products saying "If you're not satisfied, you can get a full refund"....

Besides Amazon...has anyone ever pursued that? If so, how did it go? Did it work out?

Just curious...

When ordering via Amazon you can return the item/s and get a refund.  It does work.  I've returned items.  Just go back thru  to get an ID number to return it.

Returning to a physical store is a lot easier than returning stuff online. I have only returned one item to Amazon. If something does not work I will return it. Or if there is an issue with fit.  We purchased PJs last year around Christmas and some idiot had switched the sets so the top was small and the bottom was an x-large. smh

I bought a lawn mower from a small Sears store in my hometown.  I bought it already put together off the floor.  Someone had bought it and didn't like it so they returned it.  They told me it was ready to go.  I didn't have to add oil or anything.  I used the mover maybe three times and it locked up.  I took it back to the Sears store for a refund and they would not give me a refund even the back of the receipt said they gave refunds if not satisfied.  They said they would take it to see what was wrong.  They called and said it didn't have oil and the repair cost was more than I paid.  Long story short I called someone at the Sears home office and told him my story.  They sent me a brand new mower and it didn't cost me anything.

I bought a water purifier pitcher from Amazon.  In the question section, someone had asked a question about being able to buy the filters for the pitcher also from Amazon.  A reply to this question said, "Yes, you can buy the replacement filters from Amazon."  Once I got the pitcher, I decided to go ahead and buy some replacement filters, so I would have them when I needed them.  I searched high and low, and couldn't find any filters ANYWHERE that would fit my pitcher, not even from the manufacturer of the pitcher. Who sells a water filter that doesn't have filters that you can purchase when the original gets too old??????  I sent the pitcher back and Amazon refunded my money.  Amazon had even put the "Amazon Choice" sticker on it.  I told them they needed to reassess their endorsement!

So often, I see messages on products saying "If you're not satisfied, you can get a full refund"....

Besides Amazon...has anyone ever pursued that? If so, how did it go? Did it work out?

Just curious...

I only return stuff if it is broken or does not work. I return it to the store where I made the purchase. I don't order from random places online. The only thing I returned to Amazon was a pair of shoes that was 2 inches too long for my foot. I ordered the same size I wear in that exact shoe.

Did they think you were trying out for clown school or something

lol Idk. I think the shoe was in the wrong box. There was no size printed in the shoe. But since then I have not ordered shoes online. I will order t-shirts.

This wasnt a return, but my mom once wrote to a candy company because when she bought a candy bar, it was only half there (and it wasnt opened) They sent her a big box of candy as an apology. I be there was 5#or more of candy bars. lol she was pretty happy.

It is amazing what sorts of things you can get from companies if you write in with a complaint (or a compliment) about one of their products. I used to write letters on a pretty regular basis to places with wild and crazy ideas or remarks in effort to be funny. I would always end each letter with a request for a free baseball cap.  My batting average was pretty low overall, but I did end up with several baseball caps, as well as other items, from a handful of places. I also got a lot of reply letters with serious responses to my joking letters!

I actually posted those online and they can be found if you google Rusty Lucas Letters if you are interested in reading any of them. Some of my favorites include a complaint to Olive Garden about their urinals, a request to White Castle for a drive through funeral procession, and a letter to the Lucas County Library about trademarking a legal name.

Good times!  :)

We have taken things back, Amazon is usually pretty easy to send things back to.

I've only had to do it with Amazon so far.

When ordering via Amazon you can return the item/s and get a refund.  It does work.  I've returned items.  Just go back thru  to get an ID number to return it.

Returning to Amazon is the easiest thing I have ever experienced. Many (if not most/all) Kohl's stores have an Amazon return kiosk. As long as you arrange for the item return from your computer or phone in advance - you can print off a return label and take the item in with that label to get your return sent back. You don't have to box it up or anything - just take in the item and your paperwork and they handle the rest.

I just did this last week when I bought a duplicate item from Amazon by mistake. The web site said I could expect my refund within 24 hours after they received the returned item. I had notice of my credit less than two hours after I was at the Kohl's store! And as an added bonus - Kohl's gave us a coupon to take an additional 25% off any item in store for using them to do the Amazon return.

I have returned packages via Amazon.  What they do is to contact the seller, and they handle it.
