up dat on the working from home.
« on: October 03, 2020, 06:51:58 pm »
It started out good.  Seems to have really slowed down for many of us.  I keep hearing them say this is the calm before the storm.  I think some are expecting more call volume as we get closer to the holidays.  I am not so sure.  I do enjoy talking with the people from the calls that I do get.  Most are very nice and just a joy to talk with.  So that's it on the job.

Depends on what you are doing that you are calling a job and calling working from home.  People who have real jobs and work from home it does not slow down. It is a real job. You have been very vague about what you are doing ever since you first mentioned it.  I assume it is something like this site where you can make a little money on the side. But it is not a real job.

I worked in the financial services industry and we are still working remotely from home. Most days it is fine, although collaboration with colleagues is harder without face to face interactions. Helping my son who is learning long distance from home has been much harder than I thought. He misses his friends from school a lot.

It's easier for some to go to a job.  If they aren't essential and you can't work from home, that is a whole different situation.  People  are in need and missing out of paychecks that is a cause for stress.  When they say it's going to get worst what do they honestly mean?  Millions of people have died because of this virus.  Isn't that worse.  This is getting scarier by the day.

I currently work from home and have been since March.  My company does not want us to return until at least January.  Honestly, at first I loved the idea, but now I would rather be at work.  Yeah I can do my job at home, but it was much easier at work.  I have a good laptop that we got from work which I use, but it was easier when everything was at your finger tips, printers, hard files, etc.  Virtual meetings are not the same as face to face.  I miss the being with other employees.  And I’m sick of being home working, but like I said we cannot return until January.  I hope this virus is gone soon, I want life to return

I have been working from home since February, first because I caught the Flu and was home bound for 2 weeks, then I went on vacation and when I came back we were ordered to work from home.  I work as a Contractor for the Federal Government and at a Federal Owned building but we have not gone back to the office yet, and it looks like we will not been going back until at least January.  I like working from home but I prefer been at the office, so I can interact with co-workers and walk more than I do at home, I get lazier for my walking at home.  My husband has been furloughed since March and the already told them that they will not open the building until at least January maybe March so he is out of work, been looking for something but nobody calls him and unemployment will be over in a few weeks.

It's a new change people have to get used to just like the kids being home and doing virtual schooling.  Adjustments all around but hopefully things will improve soon.

So you work for something similar to HSN or something like that. That makes sense.  Do you get paid by the hour or by how many phone calls you take?   I have seen ads for jobs like that on indeed.com but the job posting is always vague so I never wanted to trust it.  Hopefully you can do well with it.

Millions of people have not died. Stop listening to the dementia patient! Less than 10,000 have died in the US that was truly a death caused by covid. Everyone else had major underlying conditions that caused their death.

Who knows what they mean.  They are trying to invoke fear.  And in you they have succeeded. It is not scary if you are smart enough to do your own research.  You have more than a 99% chance of a complete recovery.  And it is not nearly as contagious as they tout.  If it was everyone in the world would already be infected.

It is pretty easy for anybody to get a job.  Get off your butt and go apply.  Walmart and other retail places can't get people to work.  So if you want to work you can.

Have you seen the Progressive (I think) ad where they are doing a virtual meeting? I have seen it online. Depending on you job even if you can do from home it can have draw backs.  If you go to the office you use their stuff.  If you work from home you provide your own office supplies. But you are at home.  I think I would like it. But my job requires me to physically be at the site.  I cannot do it from home.

I don't know what is suppose to change magically at the end of the year?  Other than what I previously said, it will go away after the election.  The majority of people have said they will not take a vaccine.  I guess employers can try to force you to by denying you employment if you refuse it.  But that is illegal.  So not sure what will happen there.

This is here to stay.  It is a new strain of the flu.  We have new strains every year.  And if you do some research you find that H1N1 was a lot worse that this.  I am still trying to figure out how so many people have been so brainwashed. smh

So I am curious as to if he has applied at Walmart?  Lowes?  And other places like that?  It is on the news all the time how these places can't get people to work.  If he is really as desperate as you make it sound for a job he would take one of these type jobs.  Of course as long as he get unemployment with that extra added on he is not going to seriously look for a job.  Nobody is. I know people riding the "freebie" train and they are not even looking.  They just say there aren't any jobs.  I can't wait until they file taxes the first of the year and find out they have to pay taxes on all that big money they got.  It was not just free money!

My daughter in law worked from home for awhile. They kept track of the movement of her mouse.  We're all being watched I suppose.

I've been working from home from years but not in customer service, I can imagine this is a frustrating time for cs workers, be well.
