Getting furious with the mail
« on: October 02, 2020, 12:37:09 pm »
In July, I didn't get a bill for Comcast (bills come around the 24th every month), so I was late paying because that month I decided to pay my bills early and thought I did pay it until I got the overdue notice. I was charged a late fee which I'm fighting to not pay since it wasn't my problem their bill was never received.

Last month, the bill came on time....but this month I didn't get it until today. 10/2.  This is not the post office's fault because I've been receiving my other bills on time, so it's Comcast. They just don't want me to give them a good rating I guess. I've been having trouble with them for almost 6 years. they're the only company that provides services here so my alternative is cutting the cord which I want to do but don't know if hubby will figure out how to use the service because he is just starting to learn how to use the Comcast remote!

Learned a long time ago that the paper bill is a courtesy, you must note the payment due date and pay it on your own, if you get a bill or not!  I had a lot of late fees, always reversed but still it was hard for me to learn this!

I  would have told them I did not get a bill and that you refuse to pay a late fee. I have not got bills in over a year. I get email statements now. I also pay my bill online. it is so much easier and no late fees  or stamps :)

Have you thought about going Paperless for all your bills?  It works great and you get your bill earlier, so you don't have to worry if a bill has been paid.

lol It IS your problem.  It is YOUR responsibility to pay your bills on time and to make sure they are paid.  It is not Comcast fault YOU did not take the time to make sure it was paid.

I don't get any bills in the mail.  If I do I also get them online.  I keep up with what I need to pay every month and log in and pay it.  I don't wait for them to "mail" me a statement and then "mail" it back to them.  Obviously you have internet access.  So just log in every month at the same time and PAY YOUR BILL!

They are not responsible for lost or stolen or late mail. You know the bill is due. It is due the same time every month. Personal responsibility.  She can refuse to pay the late fee all she wants. They can disconnect the service.

I get all my bill statements on line and pay them online.  I honestly can’t remember the last paper bill I received or the last check I wrote.

This is very true. I had a credit card that I stopped using for whatever reason. I never got any bills in the mail for that card anymore, so I assumed it was because I had no charges or maybe they closed my account for inactivity. But months and months later, I found out that my Ancestry subscription (which I had forgotten about) was charged to that card and the bill was over 90 days late. I never knew it, because I never got any paper bills and didn't check my account online. So on top of the charges and late fees, it was reported to the credit bureaus, and I had that ding on my credit report for years. Lesson learned!

That is bad.  Maybe I am the only one who checks my statements every month? :D
I also get emails telling me the statement is due and it even sends one if the balance is zero.

I pay my bills online, but I still like receiving my paper statement.  I feel guilty whenever the GO GREEN or Make a Smaller Footprint ad shows up.  I guess it is time to go paperless.

I keep track of what comes in mail. Most of mine I can pay in town if I have too.   They mail does suck here, I take all my bills to another post office and the always get their on time.

It sounds to me like you had better put a reminder on your calendar for whenever that Comcast bill is due so you will be sure to pay it on time whether the bill shows up in the mail or not.

You should do autopay.

I have one day that I just sit down and do all the bills, I know when they are due, so I just pay all on line.  The I have a record and they get their money within one day.  If you don't have a hard opy you can always go on line and look, but most of mine are the same every month.

Paying late fees is like giving money away.  Maybe try auto pay or do reminders in your phone to make sure everything is paid.  I pay before the due date and  check them off each month so I don't forget.
