I worked for them after passing the postal exam and worked at the plant. Around 84 days or so they let me go. My co-workers wre nice and said I did a good job. Mgmnt however, did not agree. I did the mail machines. They called me a good sweeper but said I had to process 30k pieces in an hr. This was three yrs ago. Now I with FedexOffice and they call me an asset. Go figure.

If you do not like handling dead animals, work for the County Coroner's Office or
the Medical Examiner instead of the Post Office.

Working at the Post Office used to be a dream job.  Benefits and good hours.

They still have excellent benefits and good hours when you work your way up to a better position. They also get excellent pay. Maybe that is why they are supposedly broke.  Most people seem to think hours are just when the building is open to the public.  People work in the back close to 24 hours. Same with banks. I hear people say how they wish they had "bankers hours working 9-5".  The only people who work 9 to 5 and the highest up in the bank.  Tellers are there by 7 or 7:30 and don't leave until 5:30 or 6.  30 min to an hour after the bank closes.

People do not mail like they use too.  The majority of people pay all their bills online, receive bill notifications online, the send e-cards and texts instead of mailing birthday cards. The send emails instead of writing letters.
And the higher the price of a stamp goes the less people will use that service.

For the two years I was in the Army and most of the summer camps I served in, I did postal work. The bad part was during one summer camp I sorted mail in a tent 12 hours a day with temperatures inside that tent well over 100 degrees. When we got off duty, we headed for the Colorado River to find a calm backwater we could lie in and polish off a six pack to fall asleep.

I think  our mail delivery people are essential people.  The whole situation is troubling.  Concerning the article,  I take anything I read like that online with caution.  Is it true or fake news.

Its never wise to believe everything you see online. To much is being faked. Post office is considered a federal job but the feds don't treat it like it is. Instead of running it right they have ran it into the ground for years . Almost feels like it was done on purpose . You figure with all the people with business backgrounds in office in washington dc the post office would of been fixed by now and run better
