tinnitus / ringing in the ears
« on: October 20, 2009, 07:41:45 pm »
monday morning, around 4am, i woke to discover
a very loud and high pitched ringing in my left ear.
i can only compare the noise to a fire alarm - the
kind with a continuous, deafening beep with no
pauses...

i thought for sure i had busted my ear drum or
something, but i felt no pain. i waited for about
half an hour, trying to figure out what to do, and
i finally decided to head to the emergency room.
i'm the type of person who catches a mild cold
about once a year (luckily) so i'm easily scared
at anything unusual.

anyway, i had no sign of wax build up or irritation.
i was given a prescription for some ear drops and
tinnitus was mentioned by the doctor but he
didn't want to diagnose me with it yet. so of course
i came home and looked it up right away:

anyone familiar with this, or have it, or have had
anything similar?  :confused1:  my ear is STILL ringing
and i barely made it through work today, i was so dizzy.

I had the same problem the other night, only the ringing started as soon as I laid down.  I have a lot of sinus problems and I had a sinus migrane that night.  I think my was caused becuase the sinus pressure that night, because I have a lot of drainage in my ears.  Do you have sinus problems?

that's the weird thing - i don't have many
sinus problems at all. i do occasionally get
sinus headaches, but no normal drainage
or pressure or anything.

...and its still ringing  :sad1: the dizziness
is really getting to me.
