I Should Have Known Better
« on: July 18, 2020, 08:48:40 am »
I broke one of my own rules of not attempting a survey that is longer than 25 minutes on most, not all, of my sites.

I am talking about a site other than FC but one where I have established the 20 minute rule. I also have made this rule for FC.

I had a 25 minute survey on the homepage of this other site. I had time and thought, "why not. give it a go"? It turned out to be an interesting survey. I completed, even making some comments at the end, and submitted only to get the "oops. we are sorry". I did not even get the sometimes small DQ bonus.

I Should Have Known Better.

Oh man, isn't that maddening? I had an FC survey in my email yesterday that I spent over a half hour on, just to be told "quota filled" and I didn't even get the penny dq. And the thing is, at least for me anyhow, so many of them end up being longer that what they originally say. Like I pick one that says 10 minutes, ends up being half an hour. I just don't really have the time or patience for that!

My solution to that problem is, I NEVER time them.

I never time a survey. I just take it until it is complete or I get DQ'd

What a bummer!  It seems such a waste when that happens, but you had no way of knowing.  Don't beat yourself up. My problem with those longer surveys is that my brain eventually turns off and I find myself wanting the survey to end so bad that I can't really give my full attention toly the rest of the questions.

I am sorry and i agree with you.
The only surveys i do are tap and FC and i never attempt the long ones usually 15 minutes at the most. Like you every time i brake the rule it never works! :rainbow: :peace:

That is so unfortunate. I have had long surveys where I get to the end and it says something went wrong. I don’t know that I would have tried a 25 minute survey, though, I stick to time estimates of no more than 15 minutes.

Bummer. Even when I took my time doing surveys, sometimes I still get DQ. At least you tried.

There are some surveys that take an average of how long it took to take the survey. Then, the slowest respondents and the fastest respondents, on each end, are kicked out of the survey and not included.

This is not true of all or most surveys but it includes some. And we never know.

I don't time or go by the time they say it will take..those times are never accurate..as far as what happened at the end, that has happened to everyone at some time

I have been in that situation so many times over the years. There is never a way to tell if a survey will get filled before you can finish it. I keep my surveys to 20 minutes or less.

Same here. 20 min is my max and since I am a speed reader, I can usually go fairly quickly. Honestly, I stick to TAP almost exclusively. I end up with completing half or more and otherwise get 5-10 cents even from a DQ. Sometimes if the title sounds interesting, I'll try a FC survey like traveling or something.

I only attempt 20+ minute surveys on Tap.  The likelihood that I'll get a decent DQ payment is pretty good.  I try not to attempt the longer ones on other survey platforms but sometimes I do if I happen to have extra time -- I usually beat myself up for wasting my own time!  :)

Happens about once every 2 weeks. That's enough you can't really tell which ones will do that.  I've done a few that were so boring I kinda knew I might not make it.
