Hey, congrats, that is wonderful news. My husband also has a black thumb. He's good a many things but gardening is not one of them.
Anyhow, we got a packet of green bean seeds and planted them a couple of weeks ago. They're actually growing like a weed. ( I hope it's not weeds we're seeing - lol ). So we'll see what happens with that.
His sister sent us one of those indoor containers; I don't think it's Ikea but she sent it along with a link to a you tube video on how to easily grow sprouts. I love sprouts, so now I'm on a sprout kick. We'll give that a try as well.
Thank you so much, betlynjua! Really hope your green beans do well in the indoor container! We'll compare notes, LOL!
There's nothing more satisfying than seeing a seed sprout that you planted. We grow a lot of herbs, but outside in the garden or in pots on the deck. I have to check out that greenhouse thing.
Yeah, bremer51, it's called the Ikea Socker greenhouse, which you can find on their site. It's really nice and easily fits 8 medium sized peat pots. So far I'm loving it!
As you may remember, I planted 7 kinds of herbs in peat pots and put them in my new Ikea Socker glass greenhouse and set it on a small table in my kitchen by the window. Just wanted to let you know that five days after I planted them (Saturday) 6 of the 7 have begun to sprout! Of course, the real test is the test of time. Hopefully these very, very tiny herb plants will grow into full-grown plants at some point. The only one not sprouting yet is the cilantro, but that can take 7 to 10 days to do anything. So this is telling me that even people with black thumbs (like ME, ME, ME!) can at least grow something, LOL!
So exciting -- Congratulations! Would be awesome to see the greenhouse & its herbs thriving, wish they'll let us post images again.
Thank you, aflyingmonkey! Yeah, I'd love to be able to post a picture when you can actually easily see the sprouts, LOL!
congratulations!
continued success! Iam sure your meals will taste even better now!
Thanks. pkrahmer! Yeah, I can't wait to actually use them. I don't know if it will really enhance the flavor of the dishes using fresh herbs, but it doesn't hurt to find out!
