The whole thing was just weird.  I work in a cable call center and the story was on like everything tv and all the people I work with were like "poor little boy."  Ok, I dont like seeing people getting hurt, lost or killed, but I do not like the ridiculous attention news channels give top stories.  I honestly just ignored the whole story and am still ignoring it.  The parents should have their wages garnished for the remainder on their lives to cover the cost of the news coverage and business interruptions they caused from what I have heard and read though.

This poor child. In recent interviews he has been vomiting because he is so afraid of what he may say. These parents are ridiculous and should face criminal charges. Anyone that saw the events unfold that day were hoping for the safe return of that precious boy, who was never even in that homemade balloon! I hope they are also fined by the FAA. These people are too sick for anyone to watch a stupid reality show they may come up with. Just like Octomom, their dreams of having a reality TV show went out the door the moment they put their own needs ahead of their childern's!

When I first heard about this story, I though the whole thing was bazar.  My question during the whole thing was why would the little boy stay hid for so long.  Was it 3 or 5 hours?  I have never seen a little boy that age be able to stay put for the amount of time.

I thought the same thing. 6 year old boys can't stay put for 5 minutes during hide and seek. Did they have him locked up somewhere?
Someone should also be looking in on those kids. If you are so willing to make your kids lie to police, you don't care too much about them. Did anyone see the poor kid throwing up when they were being interviewed? Probably stress.
If you have seen the Wife Swap with them on it, they brag about chasing tornadoes with their kids.
It goes without saying that they should have to pay back all the money they cost everyone.

I also think the news needs to Quit covering it. They are giving them the attention they wanted in the first place.

I agree completely.

From the recent stories I've heard, when officials looked in the attic after the boy was found, they had a HUGE cardboard box full of his toys, two plates of food (most was gone) and drinks.

Also, when reporters were at the home of the family when the boy was still thought to be in the balloon, the parents had put a box outside with a sign that stated "Write your questions and leave them in this box. We will return written answers".

I think the parents need to face reality by serving their jail time as well as paying back all the services that were there to help save their son...

I think you said it well!  If the parents have to pay some real consequences for their actions and THAT was also publicized, perhaps it will be a way to stop other people from trying to exploit their kids like this boy was.....just for publicity.  It SHOULD backfire on them as negative publicity.

Crazy parents. Those kids are just as bad they curse and follow no rules.

We can't really be annoyed with the children for cursing and not being able to follow rules. They wouldn't curse if the parents didn't or if the parents disciplined them if they picked it up from someone else. And they'd follow rules if the parents had any.

I feel sorry for the boy. As others have said, he's made himself so physically sick by trying to say what his parents have told him and not accidentally say what really happened. What kind of good parents do that to their children?

I agree that the parents should be thrown in jail AND fined. The children would have a much better life if they lived with someone else. It may be upsetting now, but they have nothing going for them as it stands at the moment thanks to the parents. That little boy is going to be called "Balloon Boy" for quite some time.

[If some of this doesn't make sense, please forgive me. I just woke up to a temper tantrum so my brain's not with it.]

i think the balloon boy story is some hoax that the family pulled. they have evidence that the father wanted to make some aircraft thing in the sky and wanted everyone to know about it. then that days tells that his son is missing and he cant find him. so the media and news crew are all looking at the balloon aircraft. find out "wait no boy inside? where is he?" for three hours?? first the balloon itself looking like it wouldnt hold neone not even a boy. then second for three hours no one wonders maybe hes inside the house somewhere and dnt go looking everywhere? at least the kids could look along with the parents and find him at least in an hour. it just sounds like a fishy story.

I was mortified after seeing further coverage on this story. Apparently this is not the parents only attempt at getting a reality show of their own by using their children. These young boys have also made a vulgar "rap" video that has been put on the internet. It is pure filth that should not come out of adult mouths, let alone children! Some of the language would make a sailor blush! Even the title of the video is a degradation to women!

It is clear that these parents should be rotting in jail and spending every dime they have to pay back their respective county for any and all expenses occurring from this staged event. Those poor children should be placed in a more proper home, with a more acceptable environment. If someone does not step in to aid these children they could be in for a life of chaos and crime! I would much rather foot the bill now, while they are still children, so they may be taught proper discipline and morals, than spend the money on their cable television, weightlifting in the yard, and three squares a day!

When my dad was little once he was playing hide and seek with his sisters and he crawled under a bed and fell asleep. No one found him, and hours later, they thought he'd gone missing and started searching the neighborhood. The kid could have fallen asleep up there. Or he could have had a gameboy or whatever to keep him busy.
