Miss son
« on: July 11, 2020, 10:12:36 am »
Not going to say I am exactly depressed but I am kind of down in the dumps.  My youngest son works at a nursing home & he is afraid to come to my house even with a mask due to my age and health issues especially.  Oh well all I know is to keep praying and hope change is coming.  Are you not seeing anyone especially close to you due to the virus?  Well prayers for your continued health and safety.

I feel so bad for you but I understand one of my best friends is a social worker in a nursing home and I haven’t seen her since March.  I know it’s not the same as your son but it still is sad. Just remember your son is trying to keep his mom safe.  That speaks volumes on how good a mom you are that he cares that much.

I have visited my mom twice (outdoors) since this started. It makes me nervous, because she has cancer. I'm 99.9% sure I've never had Covid, but I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I got my mom sick. We stay 6 feet apart, but she insists on hugging me when I leave.

Could you meet your son outdoors with all the precautions? It's safer than indoors.

My mom lives in assisted living and it seems like I have not seen her in a looong time.  Before Covid 19 my spouse was very sick and we could not visit and then when he got better Covid 19 came along and no one could visit the assisted living home.  I live about 2 hours away but have a brother and sister who have been able to see her at the window.  I call every few days and talk to her though.  I'm glad they're are keeping everyone safe at 'the home'.   She's 87 and has COPD.

Another option we have been using for some of our families is Zoom (video calling). The software is free and you can get a webcam for as little as $10 and it's amazing how close to a real visit it can make you feel.

I know how you feel. I try to stay away from my parents because they are in their 70s and I miss them but the good thing is talking on the phone. I try to stay inside as much as I can if I don't need to be out. I hope and pray things change for the better soon too. I've been kinda down in the dumps myself.

Mave your son come to your house, but not to come in. You can see him and visit for a while! You talk to him on phones

It is really sad that things have gotten to this but it is the best for everyone.  I just pray for protection and safety for all those that are in harms way.

Our church has been online worship since March; I haven't been able to visit my parents yet this summer (Besides phone calls); I know some elderly people who have not been able to visit loved ones due to COVID concerns.

Not seeing my grandkidsvas much as id like. Last time they came we distanced and they play3d outside more. So far so good. He could sit on a chair outside  6ft away.  Wear a mask. This is crazy. Calif is not doing good at all.

We visit family, friends and relatives via Zoom.  Since the middle of March our Congregation has held all of our meetings over Zoom.  It has been wonderful.

As far as visiting is concerned, we have actually been able to visit more often over Zoom than in person.  We've even arranged to have dinner with friends and family over Zoom. The cool thing about that is we only have to wash our own dishes.
