Covid test

I had to get one done due to being exposed by someone at work. It did not hurt in my opinion.

Maybe it depends on who does it. Some say it does and some say it doesn't.

i  have been healthy and i dont  anyone who has been sick so no need to get a test at this time

You have no idea if you were around anybody who was sick. Have you been to any retail or grocery stores? Been to the gas station? A couple weeks ago I saw a guy at the gas station (he came walking out of the store) and he is positive for this virus. I am sure the people who were in the gas station has no idea they were potentially exposed. I am just not buying that somebody who has it and can just walk in to a building and then everybody in the building supposedly will get it. I have not been around anybody who was SICK and as far as I know not been around anybody who has had this. But you don't know. I have been around people who were told they were possibly exposed. But nothing ever came of it.

Thinking of getting one in about 2 weeks or so, it's a requirement before a lab visit I have in the hospital. Still debating if I should cancel the appointment.

If it were not something life or death I would cancel the lab visit. But that is just me.

oh no..not until i absolutely have to..we have a guy on the next street,,,he got one because he went to the dr with his wife...he said i had one so i am safe from covid...idiot...lol

I had a fever for six straight days in January, lost twenty two pounds. I got out of bed to go to the bathroom but slept, pretty much, the whole week. This was before the media shared the corona virus pandemic. I went in for my bi-annual physical/wellness check and told my Doctor. He said that there was a good chance that I had had Covid but there was nothing to worry about because of the time that had passed. He pointed out some related results from my blood work and said they could possibly be related to my exposure but I was still healthy. I asked him if a CoVid test could be administered and he said insurance would not cover it, the tests were taking three weeks to get to medical personnel /hospitals, and, in general only the uber rich and ultra poor were getting access to the CoVid test. I think, if there were a treatment, I would want a test so that the treatment could be administered. What would be the point of taking the test otherwise other than quarantining which I do a good job of, anyway.

what is done if your found to have covid what medicine is given. if you feel sick just assume you have it .why wait in a line for hours they show hundreds of cars  in line. My daughter was feeling sick a couple weeks ago she had the test and didnt haVE it luckily. only took a few hours for her to know. Maybe if you do feel sick youd want to know maybe not.

Why would you have a test now for a virus you had in January. You would be negative now. I don't think people understand how this works.  Not sure what your doc is talking about that only the super rich or utlra poor can get a test. From what I have seen everybody can get tested every where for FREE. Just go to your health dept or a testing site. But if you are not sick WHY would you want to have a test done? I cannot for the life of me understand that. And nobody can answer me. They just get all offended and start trying to argue.

Also not sure what you want "treatment" for.  You had a flu type virus in January. You are better. You do not need any treatment.  A lot of people had a virus back last winter and were all testing negative for the flu. I would bet it was cov. There was no reason to shut the country down or to fear monger.  But hey it has stopped random people from coming to my door so it has it's up side! HA!

They don't do anything. It is a virus. There really is not anything they can do. What part of 98% recover at home do you people not grasp? They will send you home and tell you to quarantine along with your whole family. Take cold meds, drink fluids, rest. If you have problems breathing come back. I also am not sure why you would just ASSUME you have this if you have the slightest twinge. I don't get people. If I woke up with a fever there is no way in the world I would go to the doctor. I know people recently who have had a fever for several days. They stayed home and they got over it and now they are fine.

My brother-in-law is in the hospital right now.  He hadn't been feeling his normal energy levels for a few weeks, then a fever hit.  Hovered around 104-105 for days.....test was Positive.....he's quite ill, but not on a ventilator.

His test was done via a drive by method, throat swab; not the nasal swab.

Somebody said last night they can do a blood test. Had not heard that.

I just made a Red Cross blood donation yesterday. They are now administering tests of all blood donors for the COVID antibodies that may indicate a prior infection.


Taken from the blood donation app: "A positive test result indicates that you had a previous exposure to the virus that causes COVID-19 and your body has developed specific antibodies to the virus, regardless of whether you developed symptoms. A positive antibody test does not confirm infection or immunity. It is currently unknown whether the presence of COVID-19 antibodies will provide immunity to future infection, although this has been shown to be the case in similar viruses for a period of time. If your test is positive, the Red Cross may contact you to request additional information and conduct further testing as part of a research study. If additional testing occurs, you will be notified of the results by mail.


A negative test result means that you probably have not been exposed to COVID-19 and therefore have not developed antibodies to the virus. It also could indicate that antibodies are present but at levels below the test's threshold for detection, or that the test did not recognize those antibodies. It is possible that you can still contract the virus, if exposed. It takes one to three weeks after an infection for antibodies to be present."


They surely cover all the bases in the explanation, and it almost seems as definitive as asking a magic 8 ball if you have been exposed or not.
