Tablets
« on: May 18, 2020, 05:11:26 am »
Just curious what tablets others use.  I have always used iPad.  Other tablets are a lot cheaper and I seen I think an Amazon fire tablet or something like that for less than $50 online.  Just curious as to what all this type of tablet can do.
From what I have seen iPad will do a lot more than the other cheaper tablets.

Also if you use some of the other tablets other than iPad are you able to use jump drives with them?

You have a 20 (TWENTY) INCH TABLET?  That sounds awfully big. Esp if you were going to take it with you.  I think I would like something larger than the iPad mini but not near as big as 20 inches. Not for a tablet. Unless you are talking about something like the 2 in 1 where it is more like a laptop.

The only tablet I've ever had is an ipad, like the original - it was fun while it lasted but it's now too obsolete to be good for anything.

I recently looked into getting a new tablet I could use just for browsing internet at meetings.. the Apple prices these days, yikes. I ended up buying a brand new cheapo touchscreen laptop instead of a refurbished newish ipad. Use of a thumb drive was imperative for me plus as cool as tablets are, the #1 thing that always cramped me about it was not having a real keyboard.

I have a cheap Amazon Fire that I bought for $30 for Christmas.  It's okay.  Not great.  But for $30, I really can't complain.  I basically use it to read books, look at facebook, search the web, etc.

The Amazon Fire is what I was looking at.  Basically I wanted something for playing games, watching movies, and browsing internet. But I have found most of the apps available for an iPad are not available for other tablets. I had the orig iPad as well.  I think it may still be here but it won't even come on. lol  The mini iPad can't be updated any longer because it is too old.  I WANT a new iPad but they are pretty expensive if you get one with a bigger storage. The ones for around $400 only have 16 gb storage and that is not much at all.

I have an iPad and wanted a new one, but like you said, they are expensive.  I bought an Amazon Fire instead.  it's ok, but I personally think the iPad is 100% better.  I'm sorry I got the Fire.  it's ok for games, surfing, but I found the iPad has much more things going for it.  I'm going to get an iPad soon, which I should have done in the first place.

I've only ever had Amazon Fire tablets. I'm on my third. The reason I keep getting them is because I have Amazon Prime. I get free stuff, mostly books and tv/movies, and everything syncs really well. One drawback with the Fire is it's proprietary, so they only want you to download Amazon apps. However, it's pretty easy to sideload Google Play and download Android apps from there. However, all three of my Fires have had issues with charging. I'm not sure if it's the port or the cable, but it has to be positioned "just so" in order to charge. I hate micro USBs in general. Other than that, they've all been great for me. Next time I might try a different Android tablet, but my husband used to have a Samsung and had a lot of trouble with it, so I don't know. I've never considered an iPad, because I've always hated all the iPhones I've had.

I have a little Coby tablet. It does pretty basic stuff and it cost very little when I first got it. That was years ago. I sometimes play music on it and I like that I can read books on it.

I think I will probably just wait a bit and get a iPad. That is the best.
