Ladies: Do you Wear Wigs Now or in the Past?
« on: May 02, 2020, 09:38:17 am »
So I have a friend who just bought a wig from a TV shopping channel because she thinks she won't be getting to her hairdresser any time soon.  I thought this might be a good idea and I have heard they are much different now than in the past.  In the past, I wore one off and on.  I found it good for short-term wear but a bit hot and uncomfortable for more than a few hours.  My friend claims they are entirely improved now.  What is your experience?

Unfortunately I had to wear them when I was having chemo.  I had ovarian cancer 15 years ago, and breast cancer 4 years ago.  They have made major improvements in wigs since the first cancer.  I had bought (last time) 5 wigs, 3 were the same style one was brown, one blond, one red, and the other 2 dark brown.  I never really got use to them.  I hated the feeling of something on my head, I’m not a hat person.  They looked real, were today’s style, but I really hated wearing them, and yes they were hot.  Anything on your head will become hot after awhile.  Hope this helps you and answers your question.

I have never worn a wig, but my grandmother had to wear one because she had thinning hair before she died.  I don't know about the ones now, but I know the ones a few years ago were hot.

I have my own hair and somedays i like it,some i don't.
I usually wear wigs when cosplaying at my house or sometimes when i don't feel like looking how i usually do.
It's easier than dying my hair.
This way,if I don't like it,i can take it off easier. :)

I have never worn a wig but mom always had them along with a hairpiece that the salon would add to her hairstyle.  The bigger the better back in those days

Thanks for your input, Nancy.  It is appreciated as I am considering buying one sometime in the next several months.  However, I am so sorry for the reason you had to wear wigs.  My gosh, cancer twice!  That had to be so stressful but I hope you are entirely fine today and continue to be well and healthy.

I’m glad I could help you in a decision.  Thank you so much for your concern.  I thank God that I got through both cancers, and have a great support team with my family and those friends I call family.

I've worn wigs in the past just for fashion but now I don't but I would again just to switch up my hairstyle and give my natural hair a rest.

This post tickled me because I have never worn a wig - I have always had hair down to my waist (still do and I am 66) don't think I could get one on if I tried - wouldn't hold all this hair.

I started wearing them a few years ago when I go out in public but around the house I wear my hair.  All the wigs I have tried feel good in the winter months but are very hot in the summer.  I'm thinking about just doing ponytails during the warm months.

Never worn a wig but friends have had to wear one for one reason or another. But its getting warm so they are more going with no wig and short hair instead of a wig

Personally, I am not into wearing anything artificial. I want to be 100% natural. So wigs really would not do it for me.

I have been going natural since this virus has us at home and I may continue to keep the wigs stored until the cooler months.  I like the way they keep my head warm.
