To Spam or not to Spam
« on: April 29, 2020, 08:56:38 pm »
As a result of meat packing factories shutting down due to folks getting sick, it is said that there may be a meat shortage.
I went to the store today and found a can of spam, now all I have to do is to figure out what to do with it besides frying.  Any suggestions????????

OMG there are so many different dishes you can make with spam. Hawaii's  restaurants have been used it in dishes for decades for this and that. You can bake it you can fry it you can cut it up and put it into things you can also slice it and make a sammich out of it. You even have it as part of cold cuts if you wanted to. The Possibility are endless when it comes to spam.  Most people who dislike it only dislike it because there's a layers of geletin like fat around it but thats only because how its made nothing else and is always tossed away

Google recipes for SPAM. I usually fry it and eat on biscuits. Some people eat it on sandwiches cold. You can also fry it and eat with eggs or something. I make a casserole with it once (found on pinterest) but did not like it too much.

There was meat at our Walmart yesterday. The canned meat had a lot of empty spaces.  The media is destroying our country. Every day it is a different product they start screaming shortage of and people start running and buying and fighting over it.

I saw this morning where in a couple months the toilet paper companies will not have anything to do because there will be a huge surplus because people realize they have enough to last for months.  Most stores will not even accept a return on TP or other cleaning supplies that are hard to get right now.  SO if you bought it you are stuck with it.

When I saw the title, I thought it had something to do with unsolicited commercial emails (you know, the other spam) but as for suggestions...? I just nuke the hell out it and make it into a sandwich.!

Thanks for the responses.  I will try as many as I can and will certainly google to see how many different type of recipes I can come up with.  I have time for sure.

There are so many things you can do with Spam.  Although I haven't eaten it in a while, that was the one meat that my Mom used.  It's pretty good when you become creative with it.

I went to Costco last week to get see if they had any cleaning supplies (of course they did not), and took advantage and got some Spam, Tuna and Can of Chicken thinking the same thing if there is shortage of meats I can use those.  Spam can be cook so meany ways, You can also cut it in pieces and cooked with sauce or added to mac and cheese, recipes are plenty. I have some meats here on my both freezers but that will not last forever and meat shortage is coming common and more expensive now.

My mom used to make it for supper. We had a stove, probably made in the early '50s, that had a griddle that you pulled out to fry stuff on it (loved that stove) and she would make SPAM and eggs. Hubby won't touch it. The new commercial for SPAM with the peas and rice looks delicious. As for the old stove, when my parents bought a new place, they left the stove there. I knew the people who bought the house and was surprised when they both died and the house went up for sale, that the stove was still there and still working! I wantted to buy the stove but they wouldn't sell it separately from the house.

As for TP, I'm sure people with gut problems appreciate all they can get. I know someone who can go through a 4-pack in a week. :(
