Can May 15 be the end of Social distancing?
« on: April 17, 2020, 04:51:14 pm »
Hello! :) :D

I hear the new last day of social distancing is set for May 15, have you heard that too? I certainly hope so I miss having my daily walks outside. Nonetheless even if we are able to go back to school and work how long until we get back to our normal fully? For me I still will have to be careful as I get sick easily. What are your honest thouths about the world wide isolation do you think the Government is over reacting and we all need to go back to work? I hope everyone is staying safe and healthy.  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:  :rose:

I really think the government should make a vaccine or cure available FIRST and then talk about getting things going again. Just because we've been hiding away, doesn't mean the virus has given up and is no longer a threat! Would you go swimming again if a killer shark was on the loose and it hadn't been caught yet? Yup, looks okay everybody, back in the water! yeah, I didn't think so. We need a virus cure, not silly talk.

My life is basically the same during this social distancing time as I usually stay in the house anyway. Of course, I miss going to the grocery store whenever I take a notion to. Now I go no more than once a week and always wear a mask, as I've been advised to do. As far as ending the social distancing on May 15th, that may be a good idea just to let people out of their houses and to get businesses back in business. Maybe there can be some something in place for when social distancing goes away where you still wear a mask for a while and then go to no mask a little further down the road things seem safer?  :peace:

I certainly hope that this pandemic dies down soon; I was informed by my job that things may soon go back to "normal" around May or June (especially with the news that a vaccine in development). Here's hoping.

No I haven't it's going to take a long time for that to happen I honestly don't see it happening anytime soon.  I can't see it happening until next year.  Life is not going to get back to what it was in that short amount of time.  We're going to be going through it for a long time. I return back to work in June and I'm still going to continue to wear a mask and socially distance myself for a long time.

I don't know,  we are wearing masks. staying home, washing hands and social distancing  but this thing is still spreading.

So maybe social distancing isn't even helping ??? or masks ???

You are not allowed to walk outside? You must be in a state that is a lot stricter than mine. We can basically go any where that is open.  It is suppose to be only essentials that are open but more than that it.  I don't know what to think.  YES we need to get back to work.  But all the people drawing unemployment are making more sitting at home than when they worked with the extra $600 a week so why would they want to work?  Most are making way more money not working.

Things are going to have to open back up.  People are going to lose everything they have. Smaller businesses and even bigger ones are not going to open. They are just closed. :(

This is here to stay.  They already said it will be back in the fall and every year and a new strain like the flu.  Then they say it won't leave before the fall.  SO you can hole up in your home til we all die or we can get out and live life.  I don't think things will ever be like they use to. People are always going to be all stay out of my space, don't breathe near me, and if you cough in public you have to have this virus.  smh

Spoken like someone drawing a government check.  They have already said it can take 18 months to 2 years to get a vaccine.  Some people are not drawing unemployment.  They also do not get a government check.  Nothing is open to hire so I guess you are okay with them just losing their home and living on the street?  You are free to hole up in your home but stop trying to control every one else.  There will never be a "cure" just like there is no cure for the flu or a cold.

A few people around here were wearing a mask the last time I was at a store.  The ones who were not wearing made fun of the ones who were.  People need to mind their own business. But that is a different discussion altogether.  The government can never force us to wear a mask in public.  This is not a communist country yet.  Although some idiots are trying to make it one.

It is still spreading because idiots are not staying home. Some people have already done not only the 2 weeks but 5-6 weeks.  Where I live you have quite a few that refuse to stay home.  We have had people who tested and then instead of self quarantine like they were suppose to went to Walmart, went to the grocery store, went to bank business, and meetings, and every where else.  Then was like oh they tested me for that yesterday.  I would have punched him in the throat!  We would have all had to do this at the same time.  But it is impossible.  Yeah you can do it in a communist country where they can "shoot you dead" for being outside of your tiny apartment. But not in the land of the free.  98% of the people who have this virus either don't even know they were sick or have a mild cold.

I think social distancing is going to be our new norm for awhile, until they find a vaccine. States have different stay at home orders in place so it will be hard to open everything back up at one time; and then there is the issue of people who live in one state but work in another which is very much the case in our area of the DMV; so I just think we will be in the waiting stage for a  much longer time. I go outside for walks, but wear a mask.
