Robins Have Returned - I guess We're in for 3 More Snows
« on: March 18, 2020, 04:52:04 pm »
A few weeks ago the robins returned to southwest Minnesota.

There is an Old Wives Tale about Robins.  The saying goes: Spring will come when it snows on the Robins’ tail 3 times. So what that means is that once the Robin comes back, it will snow three times and then the winter will be all over.

So far it has snowed ONCE.  Today, we are currently in another Winter Weather Advisory:

Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches and ice accumulations of around one tenth of an inch. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph.

That will make it TWO times.

Spring is getting closer!!

We've had robins all winter in northeastern KY.  We've only had a couple of light snows this year.  Not enough for schools to be delayed or closed because of snow.
Have a wonderful day!

That's a cute wives tail.  Seems like I have been seeing robins all winter.  I did see the male cardinal yesterday.  Hoping to see a juvenile cardinal in a week or 2.

I have never heard that saying before.  I know in North Carolina we don't always have snow, but we always have robins around.  We did have one snow this year and I saw robins out looking for food.
