Grilled Cheese

What kind of cheese do you prefer for your grilled cheese?  I like thin sliced "real" cheese of some kind like Colby jack or muenster but my son like his dad before him likes American cheese.

I use the block cheese.  Doesn't matter if it is sharp or Colby jack.  I like lots of cheese so I want thick slices that completely cover the bread.

I grew up with American cheese on my grilled cheese sandwiches. So even today, while I don't really care for American cheese, I still love it for a grilled cheese sandwich! Behind American cheese, though, I really like cheddar cheese for a grilled cheese sandwich. Yum!

I used to love grilled cheeses made with the Kraft singles. There is a restaurant near my job that has a grilled made on a pretzel roll with American & provolone cheeses and it is really good! That's been the best combo of cheeses I've had on a grilled cheese thus far.

I like a variety.  When I'm in the mood for a grilled cheese, I go for whatever is available in the fridge; as long as there is something available.   

I also prefer the "real" cheese.  Sometimes the only option is swiss.  It may not be my first choice but it does work especially if I have a cup of tomato soup to go with it.

  I use freshly sliced Swiss cheese from the Deli department at the local store.
  I use nothing but Swiss cheese, why? For me it taste better and is more nutritious.
  No artificial coloring or flavors added...like other cheeses have.
  Grilled or not grilled: It is my favorite sandwich!

Something I saw on food network.  You put about 5 kinds of cheese in the middle and you spread butter on outside of bread and press shredded real parm cheese in to the butter before you grill it.  Idr what they used on the inside because I use my own diff cheeses I like best.  Not healthy at all but it is really good.

This right here. Nothing like nice gooey melty cheese and among the lot of other cheeses I've tried, it tastes better.

I like American but it can't be the type of cheese that is individually wrapped in foil.  That stuff is so gross.
