No one answering at my Dr's office
« on: March 06, 2020, 11:49:02 am »
Tried to call in a prescription refill but a recorded message kept coming up they were experiencing higher than usual call volume.  Wow that is unnerving never had that happen before -  don't even want to know why.  Have you tried to call or get an appointment and not been able to get through?

No, actually I just called my oncologist’s office for a refill.  I heard on TV people are stockpiling prescription medications, I’m not, I just needed a refill.    Maybe a lot of people are calling for refills.

Have you tried emailing them, or tried to find their Facebook to message them via Facebook messenger? I hope you can reach them soon!

People are stocking up and lots of medications are made in China as well and we all know factories are shut down there.

No, if they are closed or just on another call I generally get a voice message indicating  which; that would be annoying to not be able to get any type of message!

People are in a panic because of this virus.  They are doing stupid things.  They are probably constantly calling the doctor's office every time they get a little cough or sniffle.

I haven't experienced a closed doctor's office.  It is common to get a recorded option for refilling prescriptions at our local pharmacy.

I do not now how people are doing this since most places will only give you a 30 day supply at a time due to abuse and selling the pills.  CVS announced they will offer free shipping to your home if it is needed due to shut downs. Not sure how that will work because if it got that bad delivery would also be halted.  Any way, I am sure most pharmacies will follow suit. The funny thing is the people who are hoarding enough supplies to survive for years are the same ones who will still be out running the roads to see what they can see.

People are stockpiling medications (otc) because the CDC is telling them they need to do so.  It is funny because they say "prepare, get ready, stock up now. and then in the same post say don't panic" rolling eyes here.

I highly doubt it. If anything it is just the opposite. People do not want to be quarantined to their home or locked up in a facility for 14 days. If anything I figure people will put off visiting a doctor for fear of being locked up.

My doctor's office has chain mail that takes about nine minutes to get through. Half of the message is spent on things like their office location and how they will not fill prescriptions on line unless it a a scheduled class one refill (like adderal or ritilin I imagine). I need to go through four different options before getting to the option I need. I then have to leave a message with my name, phone , date of birth and prescription name and quantity. The sequence changes every month and I am only on one medication. Last week I was returning a call, had to go through the eight minute sequence to let them know I was returning their call. They called back six hours later and told me that I had given the wrong count on my prescription request. I told them I had left no count because it should be on record and asked if they could leave a direct number for call backs which they said they could not.
