Watched most liked Eminem  he looked different. Heard he's been off drugs and alcohol. If there id be dancing. The rest of the show was ok. Liked steve martin and chris rock.

Nope haven't watched any in years.  They're all rigged anyway.

I am so glad I didn't watch the Oscars. I was hoping the Irishman would win something and it did not. The choice that won best picture made no sense at all.

I will start watching the Oscars when they make Ricky Gervais' suggestion at the Golden Globes a reality. Since that will never happen, I don't have to worry about wasting 3+ hours of my life every year watching absolutely worthless and hypocritical jackasses and rich bitches preach at me about stuff that they have ZERO qualification discussing.

There is not a single award show out there that is worth a millisecond of my time or attention.

I used to watch the Oscars many years ago. That's when the Oscars were the only award show on TV and it used to be more like a holiday with party.Today, you name it-there's an award show for it. Plus they've all become political.  I do think Ricky Gervais is fantastic and tells it like it is but it just doesn't get through the thick heads of the elites. They think his messages are for someone else.

I get both of your messages, UGetPaid and sfreeman8, and basically concur.  I don't like wasting my time either.  I am constantly evaluating what is of value to me and my life because our time is our greatest gift, IMO.  The Oscars were a wonderful 'childhood' memory for me (and even back then there were politics as when Marlon Brando sent a young Apache woman to accept his Oscar in '73), but the Oscars and politics have been bedfellows long before that.  My statements are not meant to sound preachy because I do agree that Ricky Gervais puts it out there and cuts through the crap.

Having said this, the 2020 Oscars proved to be entertaining {*shock*} for a change; plus, I like to see the 'In Memoriam' segment (I had it on while preparing dinner and working on FusionCash so I multitasked rather than give Oscars my full attention).

I don't like all the social commentaries they give on that show. It should be what it is called; an award show. If they want a social platform for their speeches, it should not be done there.  :angry7:

I like how Juaquin Phoenix thanked the audience, but I didn't care for the way he launched into social issues later. He deserved the award for his performance in Joker. He was phenomenal. :star:

BTW, I didn't actually watch the Oscars, but I heard his comments later while listening to the radio.

Now why don't you tell us how you really think.  ;)

I have never cared for the awards shows.  I don't know too many of the current actors/actresses.  I don't watch much new stuff.  Still stuck on the 60's, 70's and 80's shows.
Have a wonderful day!

You know, having read this, I will backtrack on my previous harsh comments.  You are correct. The In Memoriam segment always was a crowd pleaser and I did always enjoy seeing that (when I still watched).
