Robo Calls with my home phone number
« on: February 06, 2020, 09:00:08 am »
So the last 3 days I have getting calls that show my home number on the caller ID and have been ignoring them.  Very weird since I know I cannot call my own home using my landline.  I first I thought it was glitch but when I answered it today it was a robo call stating this is Angela from Microsoft.  Amazing what people can do now a days.

I've gotten robo-calls using my phone number too.

I get robo-calls constantly.  If I don't have at least 2-3 per day, something is wrong! LOL!! I even had one about a month ago showing 000-000-0000.  What the heck is that? Anyone else had a call where it showed that was the number calling?

I can't say I've had that happen, but a lot of these robo-calls do some sort of caller ID spoofing. We get calls at my office all the time from local numbers that turn out to be call spammers.

A few years ago, I got a call at home and the caller ID said "Telemarketer" on it. I couldn't believe that it actually came up that way! But I was very grateful that they gave me the advance warning to just let it go to the answering machine! It shocked me enough and I had my cell phone handy - so I snapped a photo of it for a chuckle...

I have.  It was getting so bad at my home with robocalls even after I used a blocker, that I no longer answer my phone unless I know the person or phone number. They got around the blocker by using my area code. I'm down to 3 a day now, always the same numbers. I have tried reporting them to the do not call lists for state and federal government, but it does no good. I'm getting so disgusted I feel like cutting my phone all together.

If they use you number - it scam/fraud.

Don't answer calls that you do not know! I block some

Your number if being spoofed.  If is not weird.  It happens all over the place.  Most likely your number is being used to call others as well.  I know several people this has happened to.  I was with a friend when he got a call from himself.

I think there is a way to block these kind of calls.  You have to call your phone provider and ask them how to do it.
I don't even have a landline phone anymore and that is one of the reasons why

Yes, we get a ton of robocalls from numbers that are close or identical to our own phone number. Has always turned out to be some sales thing. Why do they think I would buy anything from people who are so sleazily deceptive? i don't get it! Anyway, I don't answer those anymore and they never leave messages.  :peace:

I had the same thing happen to me.  It was crazy to look at my called ID and see that I was calling my house when I actually wasn't. Thank goodness it only happened a few times.
