Have You Ever Had Your Heart Broken?
« on: January 05, 2020, 08:03:30 am »
When I ask this question, I am not talking about being disappointment or thinking your heart is broken but 2 weeks later you're feeling alright.  I am talking about  true, mature heartbreak.  I have had my heart broken once.  I was 43 and it was when my second husband decided he wanted a separation, and consequently, a divorce.  Without going into all the details, I was not the same person for nearly 2 years.  I would say it was nearly 3 years before I was completely recovered.

Yes, this happened to me when I was in my early twenties. I was madly in love with someone who fell in love with someone else while I was away on scholarship in Europe. I was devastated. It all turned out for the best though in the end. I wouldn't have ended up with the two beautiful daughters I have had I stayed with him.

Twice yes once when I was younger and someone I was madly in love with couldn't make up his mind until after I married someone else and I sure wasn't going to leave my husband and child and second when my husband of 34 years passed suddenly at the age of 57 in Jan 2013 and my heart is still broken over that one.      :(

I am sure everyone has.  And just because some one else got over it quicker than you did doesn't mean they were not hurt.

He could not make up his mind until after you had married some one else?  Looks like you would have been taken out of the running once you started dating some one else.  I don't think I ever would have stayed with a guy who could not make up his mind between me and someone else.  If he could not make the decision I would make it for him.

The only time my heart was truly broken was when my mother died.

When I had to put my dog to sleep unexpectedly five years ago, I was a mess. I cried literally every single day for over a year. Maybe I'm a weirdo, but she was my canine soul mate. Every time I think about her, my heart breaks all over again. I'm crying now as I type this.  :'(

The one time I vividly remember having my heart broken was my ex-"boyfriend" breaking up with me for no apparent reason...after I spent several thousand dollars on a trip to be with him. To this day, I still do not know why he broke up with me. Oh well, his loss.

When i mention "mature heartbreak" I meant not being a teenager who falls into and out of "love" every month or so!

Since she was already married when he "made up his mind," sounds like she didn't wait around for him!

I am very sorry this has brought up some emotion.  Sounds like this dog was very special to you!

Oh Yes, I have been heartbroken, First heartbreak was 16, second was 18, and third was my son's father. It takes me a while to get through it since I am an emotional person but I did it. I now have (prepare myself mentally) so I won't be so heartbroken and torn

I don't think my heart was broken.  I just hate I spent 10 of my young years with a loser.
