new year challenge
« on: January 01, 2020, 10:02:38 am »
This new year I decided to do something new and different.  I was sick and bored last night so I decided to make random calls to all 50 states and wish someone a happy new year.  It was fun and weird at the same time.  I had no idea who I called and I am positive the other person on the line was shocked and surprised.  I would like to see this done by more people every year and maybe include some out of the country calls.  You never know who is having a bad and just needs someone does care.

I never answer calls from numbers that I do not recognize.  Seems like a cute idea but not sure all people would like this.

that is very interesting. I dont know people in many other states to call them and it is much easier to do it via facebook.

Yeah I don't answer the phone if I don't know the number.

I don't answer unknown numbers either.  If the call is important, they will leave a voicemail.  Otherwise, it is unanswered and deleted from call history.
Have a wonderful day!

I'm with most people here, if I don't know the number I don't answer.

What exactly did you say to the strangers you called when they did answer? That you were just some random caller calling to wish them a Happy New Year or something like that? It sounds really fun to do what you did.

I went in alphbetical order and just randomly chose number with the area code.  I just told them That I am wishing them a happy new year from las vegas nevada.  Many people were shocked and surprised but happy to get the phone call.  No one hung up on me or cuss me out.

It's nice that you did that, but if you called  our house, we probably wouldn't have answered or answered and hung up.   :oWe get too many robo calls that we have started responding that way to calls.  We caj see the name of our neighbors calling and we know our kids numbers to recogjize them. :)

That sounded like a cool thing to do. Years ago before caller ID my friends and I would make random crank calls but would not be mean about it. we would ask stupid questions like is your refrigerator running?  :)

If  I don't know the person or phone number, I don't answer call. Easy.

How totally random... lol

I don't pick up calls with phone numbers I don't recognize; but I'm glad it was successful for you & for those you called!   Happy New Years!

I like the idea in concept, but I think it could be a little sketchy calling random people in different states...maybe doing something within your own area could be effective!!
