It seems like most people love them. I went on a cruise once, but I wouldn't do it again. It was expensive, the food was  :-X, and I got bored pretty quickly. I guess I don't like being trapped on a boat for days and only a few hours at the destinations. That being said, it was still a good trip, because I got to spend time with my mom.  :)

I was on a cruise about 5 years ago and I thought it was awesome. I didn't like all the shore excursions but there was plenty to do on the boat at all times.

I haven't been on one.  I at one time thought that I would like to.  Now I just hear of how bad the ships are.  Sort of discouraging.

This is my take. I do not want to be trapped on a ship in the middle of the ocean, where I cannot get away.

I went on a cruise with some people who were party animals and just wanted to eat, shop and drink themselves silly continuously. I wanted to exercise, see the sights onshore and eat the local food, not stuff myself with two steaks every meal. Plus I wanted to actually sleep at night. Needless to say we were rather at odds.

I guess I'm an old fart because I didn't have a lot of fun. At the beginning of the cruise where they herded you on like cattle, I was not too impressed. It cost me a lot of money because they give you a credit card thingey once you're onboard and it's easy to abuse it absent-mindedly. I also thought it rather confining.

With different people, it might have been a totally different experience. However, I don't think I can ever afford it again. I wish I had the money back for the first one. :moneymouth: I would give up my memory of it to have the money back.  :-[

I would love to take a cruise I have never been on one but maybe a short one nothing long and extravagant just something simple and short just to see how it is. I did hear that if you’re going to go get a room with a balcony it’s much better and you don’t feel as trapped and claustrophobic

Neither have I.  I really want to go on a cruise.  I'll do it one day sooner than later.

I have never been on a cruise, either.
Opinion: 1) a view, judgment, or appraisal formed in the mind about a particular matter 2) belief stronger than impression and less strong than positive knowledge
This is the internet, learn to let people have opinions. And don't be so sensitive.  8)

I've been on one cruise in my life. It was about 30 years ago when I was in high school. I would go again in a heartbeat, but my wife has been reluctant and we have had other family related vacations that have taken priority over the years. Our daughters have been in competition dance since 2004 (with a brief break between first daughter graduating and 15 year younger daughter starting out). Their dance studio does a national competition every three years in July at the ocean - so that pretty much ties up our major vacation dollars/hours from now until the younger daughter graduates. But I will eventually get my wife to go on a cruise when the timing is right.

Contrary to popular opinion (although it is all relative and based on perspective) cruises are not all that expensive - especially when you consider that you are getting all of your meals + your "hotel" room as part of the package. The variety of things to see/do both on and off ship is fantastic = literally something for everyone regardless of age or preference of activities = live shows, casino, swimming pool & sunbathing, dance clubs, theatrical movies, etc.

Also, no other vacation where you can see several different locations/ports but remain in the same "hotel room" for the entire trip and not have to pack up and unpack in the process. Spend a day in one exotic location, go to bed, wake up the next morning in a different location without having to worry about driving or flying there yourself. Your 'floating hotel' gets you there. The food on ship is phenomenal and the ship staff will absolutely pamper you if you let them.

Dollar for dollar, this is hands down the best vacation you can take. There are isolated incidents where you hear cruise ship tales of horror and for those people that it truly unfortunate. But 99.999% of the cruise trips go off perfectly without a hitch, which - of course - you never hear about in the news or social media.

Do yourself a favor and add this to your bucket list if you haven't yet!

I’ve been on several cruises and I love them.  Yes, it probably sounds expensive, but remember it’s for one week (hotel rate) and 7 days of free breakfast, lunch, supper, midnight buffet, and all you can drink all day (non alcohol).  You get to stop in different ports and can get off and shop or just see the islands.  There are tons of things to do on board (all free); several nightclubs, a movie theater, etc.  There are shops and a casino on board.  I can’t honestly say enough about them.  The food is amazing and all you can eat, if you want room service, just pick up the phone order and you get it, and rooms are nice.  Each night when you go back into your room, the comforter and sheet is pulled back, candy ir a flower  is on your pillow.  If you are in the fence I would try it I’m sure you would like it.  As far as the noise on the ship, there will be tons of drinking, loud noise, etc if you pick a ‘party ship’., I have never been on a party ship so I never encountered any noise.

Doesn't sound like my kind of thing. I'm a landlubber. If I want buffets, massages and rock walls I can find all that someplace where I can't drown and probably for cheaper.
